Kinondo Kwetu is a beautiful barefoot retreat, the place to come to spend some quality family or private time away from all the hustle and bustle. Situated on the quieter southern Galu Beach you will enjoy the quiet beach out front, being set away from any other hotels it will feel like you have it all to yourselves. The beautiful Swahili style of the buildings and the laid back atmosphere will ensure the blissful getaway you were imagining.
This idyllic property offers the perfect setting to do absolutely nothing, laze by the pool, stroll on the beach and just disconnect. For those wanted a more stay actives stay take advantage of the onsite tennis court, simple gym facilities or the complimentary kayaking and snorkeling gear. If you are looking for more adventure book on a scuba dive, a beach horse ride or even go sky diving in the nearby Diani beach.
Kinondo Kwetu offers two beautiful pools for you to choose from and plenty of lounging options both on the grounds and in the shade of the trees on the white sandy beach. A lovely small stable is located on site with 4 horses where you can choose to canter along the beach or explore the local forests. One of the fantastic aspects of Kinondo Kwetu is how many activities can be enjoyed on site and are included within your stay, making this a perfect choice for families with lots to do for everyone!
There’s villas and cottages available, spread out across the property ensuring the right accommodation can be found for any combination of family or friends. All cottages offer lovely sea views and are perfect for couple. With the villas being great for families and certain areas of the property can be booked on exclusive use for a more private getaway.

The Hotel
This beautiful beach property offers a barefoot luxury break, on white sandy beaches trimmed with turquoise water. There’s a range of accommodation options with something for everyone, from garden rooms to beach cottages and villas. The beach cottage are quite special, with their wooden verandas and seafront locations either close to the beach or bordering the sacred forest.
The Mama Taa Villa is the main villas and has six double rooms, four of which connect to a twin room to provide a spacious family unit. Families might also like to consider either of the two suites, Borelius and Andersson, as these are also very roomy and benefit from lovely sea views. The garden rooms are situated within the hotel’s Mama Tina Villa – there are two single rooms and one double, all furnished in similar style to the main house and equipped with bed net, ceiling fan and en-suite facilities.
Facilities
The main area here is located from the central villa, with distinct Swahili style and plenty of lounge areas dotted throughout the whole property. A large pool is situated in the garden and a smaller one in the shade near the beach. A sauna, scuba centre and horse stables are all situated on the grounds.
Dining
This property prides itself on fresh, local and where possible organic food. You’ll enjoy dining in various locations around the property for different meals, these are from set lunch and dinner menus. The chef’s strive to combine the local Swahili flavours with updated and exciting menus every day.

Kinondo Kwetu is heavily involved with the local community, striving to uplift the village and those who live here. With many staff being trained and bought in from the village to work on the property. They also set up a Health Centre clinic which did so well and supported so many people that as of 2019 it has become a certified hospital and one of the best in the area.
They also support the local primary school and kindergarten, for those looking to visit the local area these are a great place to start! Kinondo Kwetu also regularly sponsor Whale Shark and Colobus Trust. This is all run through the Kinondo Kwetu Trust a fantastic enterprise that we love to support.
