Ol Lentille stands as a beacon of sustainable tourism, earning Wayfairer’s Gold Eco Accommodation Award. The Kenya safari lodge was generously donated to and is owned by the local community, ensuring that the benefits of tourism directly support the communities who own the land. Four communities involved in the Ol Lentille Conservancy reap the rewards of tourism, receiving a share of the Conservation Fee paid by visitors.

Employment and training opportunities at the lodge further empower local residents. Notably, 24 park rangers, including 2 female members, are all recruited from the local communities and trained by esteemed organisations such as the Kenya Police Reserve. Over the past 15 years Ol Lentille has invested $5 million into community development initiatives, resulting in the protection of 40,000 acres of land, the construction of 12 schools and a level 4 hospital. Through its holistic approach to conservation and community empowerment, Ol Lentille exemplifies the transformative impact of sustainable tourism.
