Trip Itinerary

The image shows people fly camping during the early evening outside Borana Lodge. The tent is dimly lit by lamps and the scenery is mountainous.

Days 1-3: Borana Lodge, Laikipia

Day 1 - Transfer from Nairobi & Arrival at Borana Lodge

You arrive in Nairobi and are transferred to Nairobi Wilson Airport, from which you will fly to the first stop on your eccentric Kenya safari tour, Borana Lodge. The decadent spaces of this magnificent Kenya safari hotel are nestled into the idyllic Laikipia Plateau, just south of the mighty Mount Kenya.

You have plenty of time to settle into your luxury safari lodge, which is encased by its own 32,000-acre wildlife conservancy, a desolate yet mystical landscape. Tonight calls for a “farm to fork” meal beneath the thatched roof of the main house, completed by the dim glow of candlelight.

Some guests accompany a local guide on a bush walk, they gaze at a rhinoceros in the bush.

Days 2-3 - Safari in Laikipia

Two full days of safari at the Borana Conservancy introduce you to a profound feeling of peace. A few like-minded people are gathered at the lodge, eager to stride into this quiet corner of Laikipia, where game drives, bush walks and a variety of other activities are offered.

Your Kenya safari tour kicks off with expert-led game drives towards elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, leopard, wild dog and even rhino due to Borana’s strong anti-poaching stance. Here, you can kickstart your off-the-beaten-track safari in Kenya with several unforgettable opportunities. You can sleep beneath the stars on a fly camping safari experience, or perhaps you’ll brave the 40-feet canopy walkway in the indigenous Ngare Ndare Forest.

Several hot air balloons float over the Masai Mara savannah during an orange sunset.

Days 2-4: Naboisho Camp, Masai Mara

Days 2-4 - Transfer to Naboisho Camp and Masai Mara Safari

On day four, you take a flight towards the exclusive Naboisho Camp and Conservancy, situated within the iconic Masai Mara National Reserve. This unique Kenya safari lodge offers nine secluded safari tents, alongside modern amenities like a curve-shaped infinity pool which makes a serene setting for wildlife observation.

Your days are filled with expert-led game drives through diverse terrains, tracking the elusive leopard, lion, and cheetah, and witnessing elephant families amidst the acacia. For a truly extraordinary experience, a hot-air balloon journey over the savannah perfectly encapsulates the liberated essence of the Masai Mara.

A family cycle past a giraffe in Ol Donyo National Park

Days 7-10: Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park

Days 7-9 - Transfer and Safari in Ol Donyo Sabuk National Park

Next on your unique safari in Kenya, you take a flight to the well-kept secret of Chyulu Hills National Parks. You are welcomed by rolling hills draped in montane forest, where a myriad of brightly plumaged birds perch on treetops.

Nestled within this striking beauty is Ol Donyo Lodge, your home away from home. Your first evening in this gorgeous Kenya safari lodge spotlights a crisp glass of wine on the veranda, overlooking Mount Kilimanjaro. The following two days introduce you to the farthest potentials of our “Off the Beaten Track” Kenya itinerary. The Chyulu Hills are a labyrinth waiting to be solved, homing giraffe, leopard, bushbuck, giant forest hog, elephant and many reptile species.

A picnic is set out on a hill on the reserve during sunset. A camp guide and local Maasai warrior admire the view.

Day 10 - Departure Home

Your magical safari in Kenya has come to a close. You are transported from the vibrant landscapes of Ol Donyo back to Nairobi Airport for your flight home.
