This is a great way of arranging your safari and gives you a great deal of flexibility. In Nyerere, you have the option of a bush walk, game drive or boat safari. The reserve boasts good numbers of lion, elephant, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, impala, eland as well as the elusive leopard and wild dog.
You have two safari activities available to you on each full day and these depart in the morning and afternoon. Apart from December & January when the weather is extremely hot, we'd recommend getting out and about on foot in Nyerere so you can truly appreciate the wilderness.
Your final full day on safari in Nyerere.
Keep an eye out for the extremely rare, and highly mobile, packs of African wild dog. The vast size of Nyerere, roughly equivalent to Switzerland, is the perfect environment for wild dog, one of the animal kingdom’s most successful hunters. Dogs hunt with a success rate of around 80% due largely to their intelligence and teamwork. Comparatively, lions hunt with a success rate of around 30% when in prides and about 10% when alone.
