Siwandu Camp - Unplug

Cost Per Night
Perfect For

Couples

Siwandu Camp is a peaceful camp located in an open palm forest next to the large Lake Nzerakera, which joins the Great Rufiji River. Situated in the northern part of Nyerere National Park, the camp blends in with the natural environment, also known as one of the most exciting areas of the reserve.

A five minute drive from Siwandu airstrip, which is just a 45 minute flight away from Dar es Salaam, the camp is easily accessible but with that faraway feel.

Enjoy spacious octagonal safari tents, thoughtfully positioned in an arrangement by the lake to ensure maximum privacy, along with wonderful views. The reserve is the largest in Africa, four times larger than the Serengeti.

There is a wealth of animals here, which makes for excellent game viewing, including fantastic opportunities to spot African Wild Dogs, thanks to the reserve being home to largest population of wild dogs in the world.

Siwandu Camp offers a range of activities to guests. Game drives are done in open jeep vehicles, ensuring that you get great views and a personable experience. Game walks at dawn are a fantastic opportunity to connect to nature, are slow paced, and look at larger and smaller animals species as well as flora and fauna.

Fabulous boating cruises take you down the Rufiji River delta in the wet season, which is the largest of its kind in East Africa. For the rest of the year, guests cruise down Lake Nzerakera.

You can even enjoy a sun downer or dine in style while on the boat, which is particularly special when animals come to drink at the water’s edge.

The camp

Siwandu Camp was evidently created with a lot of love and thought. Guest accommodation is perfectly spaced apart along the banks of the lake, while interiors are incredibly spacious, intimate, and well appointed.

The ten guest tents are uniquely octagonal, and made out of canvas and mosquito netting with a thatch roof. Perfectly designed to maximise natural airflow and laid back game viewing, the spaces are comfortable and well integrated into the environment.

Relax in a king size bed, and cool down after a long day in a private open-air shower that adjoins your en-suite bathroom, while you marvel at the stars. Enjoy your own personal veranda, complete with an elegant seating area.

Communal areas are elegant and romantic. The wooden-decked verandas are fantastic spots from which to watch the sunrise and sunset over the lake with a classic drink in hand. Enjoy undeniably delicious food throughout the day in

Facilities

Apart from the outdoor pool, main facilities in the camp are based around safari activities. The camp doesn't offer WIFI, but provides a computer in the reception with an unlimited internet usage.

Dining

International and traditional Swahili dishes are served in the hotel with a continental breakfast and dinners with an intimate setting in the boma.
