Mweya Safari Lodge - A luxurious lodge with incredible views

Cost Per Night
Perfect For

Couples, Families & Honeymoons

Mweya Safari Lodge is located in the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park in southwest Uganda. Set on a peninsula above the Kazinga Channel and surrounded by the Rwenzori Mountains, this wonderful safari lodge offers incredible views from all its rooms and cottages.

Guests can enjoy morning and afternoon/evening game drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park in search of leopards, lions, buffalo, elephants and other wildlife.

As well as game drives on the vast savannahs, the lodge offers other activities including guided bird-watching walks and boat trips on the Kazinga Channel.

Boat excursions on the Kazinga Channel offer a fantastic contrast to a land-based safari and during your cruise you’re likely to see hippos (the Kazinga Channel has the largest concentration of hippos in Africa), Nile crocodiles and a variety of birdlife.

You might also see herds of elephants as they come to the water's edge at the point where the Kazinga Channel meets Lake Edward.

Mweya Safari Lodge has two boats for game viewing – the ‘Sunbird’ which seats ten passengers in comfort and the luxurious ‘Kingfisher’ which seats twelve and serves refreshments and canopies during the cruise. (Both the Sunbird and Kingfisher have experienced guides and crew, and necessary safety equipment).

Mweya Safari Lodge also offers the opportunity to explore the dense rainforest of Kyambura Gorge in the far eastern corner of the park, where you can search for habituated chimpanzees, plus red-tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons, and black and white colobus monkeys.

Why Wayfairer

We aim to work with hotels and lodges that are committed to helping their local communities. Mweya Safari Lodge are working with the community to expand their local primary school to accommodate the growing number of students. The primary school in Kazinga Community requires maintenance and additional classrooms at a cost of approximately $15,000. Mweya Safari Lodge contributes $1 for every guest staying at the lodge to help towards this ongoing project.

Mweya Safari Lodge also supports the Pack For A Purpose initiative and guests are encouraged to bring items in their luggage for Kazinga Catholic Primary School.
