Couples & Honeymoons
If you are looking to really feel the seclusion and remoteness of the African outback then Ishasha Wilderness Camp is the perfect accommodation for you.
Located in a far-flung region of Queen Elizabeth National Park, this riverside camp features ten spacious tented rooms and is surrounded by nature.
Ishasha Wilderness Camp sits peacefully on the banks of the Ntungwe River and it's not uncommon to see elephants taking a dip or drinking from the river. Slightly further out you may see lions lazing in trees, buffalo or springbok in the open savannahs, and at night the tented rooms are filled with the sounds of the bush.
The tented rooms at Ishasha Wilderness Camp are simple but elegant, with private verandas and river views. It’s likely that hippos and elephants can be spotted from the verandas of some of the tents, while others offer even more privacy.
Each room has a king-sized bed with a draped mosquito net, an outdoor bathroom with eco rain shower and a writing desk. The rooms are designed to be simplistic but comfortable, with an emphasis on being in the wilderness.
The main camp area houses a dining area with covered and open-air seating, a bar, and a library with large sofas, decorative artwork and free WiFi. For those seeking a sense of the vast wilderness of Africa, Ishasha Wilderness Camp is ideal.
Ishasha Wilderness Camp has only 10 tented rooms, coming in either a double bed or twin setups. The outdoor verandas have great views over the river and surrounding bush, and in October/November migratory birds sometimes turn up perched on the outdoor chairs. The tented rooms are simply decorated, with everything you need but there is an emphasis on simplicity as the camp is focused on leaving a minimal eco-footprint and so have forgone bringing in lavish decor. Ishasha Wilderness Camp is ideal for visitors who truly love the outdoors and want to authentically experience Queen Elizabeth National Park.
A great location for explorations into the incredible Queen Elizabeth National Park. Activities such as bush walks from the camp, cultural excursion and bird watching can also be arranged.
Most meals are served outdoors (weather permitting) and are a delicious blend of Euro-Ugandan, with locally sourced ingredients. Special diets can be catered for and the ingredients come as organic as locally possible.
Ishasha Wilderness Camp has tried to keep its eco-footprint as low as possible, preferring to offer nature and the animals of Queen Elizabeth National Park as the main focus for visiting this camp. Animals are free to walk straight through the property, and elephants are often hanging around the riverbanks in full view.
Ishasha Wilderness Camp operate in a socially and environmentally responsible manner and have built the camp with respect to the wilderness. The bathrooms are fitted with eco-showers and toilets. The food is also locally sourced to reduce their footprint, and offer a delicious taste of Uganda, instead of imported goods.
