Couples & Honeymoons
Set on the southern bank of the Nile River, Baker’s Lodge is a boutique safari lodge with ten comfortable cottages. Named after the British explorer Samuel Baker, this intimate and appealing lodge is built on raised stilts to offer spectacular views of the river and surrounding scenery.
The raised decks mean cooler temperatures and great vistas from the strategically placed cottages and the large leafy trees keep the property cool.
Baker’s Lodge central lounge is the main dining and bar area, and has optional indoor and outdoor seating, with tables set up right on the edge of the Nile river, and a swimming pool for cooling off after an adventurous safari. On colder evenings the lodge arranges bonfires which add to the feeling of being deep in the wilderness.
Baker’s Lodge is in the heart of Murchison Falls National Park so game safaris by land and river are easily accessible.
Take a cruise up the Nile River to the base of the explosive Murchison Falls, or drive through the area of Buligi, a region rich with Africa’s most famous animals.
Baker’s Lodge has its own fleet of boats and can organise private river cruises, fishing trips (with a strict catch and release policy) and unique river safaris along the Nile. Baker’s lodge is an elegant and authentic retreat in the heart of the Murchison Falls National Park.
Baker’s Lodge has ten stand-alone cottages, each sitting on raised decks with views of the river and shaded by large African trees. Being raised the cottages stay cool even in the heat of the day, although each room is equipped with a fan if needed. the rooms are simple and stylish, and all are fitted with traditional wooden furniture, mosquito nets draped over the king sized beds, and ensuite bathrooms with solar heated hot water showers.
Windows are covered with netted windows and the outdoor verandas are ideal for watching sunsets over the river Nile. Baker’s Lodge is a great place for bird watching enthusiasts and around October/November many migratory species turn up on the verandas, and birdsong can be heard from the trees.
A main thatched lodge is a restaurant, lounge and bar area, and offers both indoor and outdoor dining. Hearty breakfasts and long indulgent multi-course dinners can be served right on the banks of the Nile.
Baker’s Lodge has a swimming pool and a boat dock, with its own fleet of boats for exploring the National Park via the river.
