Couples & Honeymoons

Sitting right on the edge of Lake Mutanda, with beautiful views across the lake to the skyline dotted with Volcanoes, Mutanda Lake Resort is heavenly.

The resort is built on a hill, offering the 13 rooms spectacular views from their private balconies and each room is simply but elegantly furnished, with polished wooden floors and a splash of Ugandan colour in each room.

Rooms come in single, double, twin and family rooms, each with mosquito nets, great lake views and ensuite bathrooms. The main lodge has a restaurant, bar and large viewing deck, and is the perfect place for a sunset cocktail or leisurely dinner retelling the highlights of the day.

One of the most popular activities at Mutanda Lake Resort is swimming in the lake, and the resort has its own small pier to jump into the fresh water from.

Mutanda Lake Resort can also organise boat tours with picnics in the middle of the lake, or traditional dug-out canoes to explore the lake at a slower pace.

There are also volcano treks, village tours and the main reason guests come to this region - gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Around an hours drive from Mutanda Lake Resort, Bwindi is easily reached and currently houses around 320 mountain gorillas, with 11 habituated groups available to see up close.

The property

Mutanda Lake Resort has 13 stand-alone bungalow rooms, each with a private ensuite bathroom and private balconies facing the lake. Each room is decorated with Ugandan artwork and fabrics, and the rooms are comfortable and spacious. Choose from single rooms, double, twin or a triple that can be converted into a family room. The resort is family friendly, but better for older children that don’t need supervision around the lakeside area.

As well as treks through Bwindi Impenetrable forest, Mutanda Lake Resort is a great base for guests looking to climb volcanoes, see golden monkeys up close, take a sunset river cruise or explore the islands within Mutanda Lake. The resort is also perfect for bird watching, as the spacious green grounds are a haven of endemic and migratory species.

Facilities

Dug-out canoes and paddle boards are available to rent, and there are also boat tours for guests who want to explore deeper into the lake.

Dining

An onsite restaurant, with vegetables grown on-site, and local Ugandan offerings as well as more international dishes.
