Turaco treetops is a lovely mid-range lodge surrounded by nature and offering uninterrupted views across Kibale forest and up to the Rwenzori mountains. It’s an ideal base for those looking to experience the wonders of Kibale National Park. The best place in Uganda to undertake chimp trekking as well as feast your eyes on bush babies and colobus monkeys!
Turaco Treetops has 8 luxury cottages situated at secluded locations in the jungle. The cottages are spacious, with large windows and outside wooden decks, providing splendid views over Kibale Forest. The cottages are designed to ‘bring the outdoors inside’ and mix modernity with an 'African feel' by using clean lines in combination with wood and other natural materials. Grab a drink, relax, and notice the Great Blue Turaco or Black White Colobus Monkeys enjoying the forest too.
Kibale National Park is a wonderful stop on any itinerary, with so many activities on offer it’s a great place for couples and families alike to come and explore a bit of nature. Chimp trekking is the main draw to this area, but nature surrounds you and there is lots on offer, explore the lakes, visit Bigodi Swamp or chill by the pool.
The main area consists of a restaurant, lounge area, bar, outdoor terrace and first floor lounge offering fantastic views. There is a space for everyone, either looking to relax and read a book or head down to the pool for a swim! This hotel is excellent for families with an indoor and outdoor children’s play area.

The Lodge
Turaco Treetops is a mid-range luxury lodge situated next to Kibale Forest National Park. With eight luxury cottages situated in private locations across the forest, this is a small lodge offering an intimate experience. Each cottage is spacious and comfortable, with sweeping views across the forests.
The property is spread out across the hill so be prepared for lots of steps between your cottage and the main areas. There is a lovely pool to cool off in the heat of the day, or set yourself up in the lounge where you can watch the birds in the treetops or curl up on a coach near the fire with a book on the colder evenings.
Activities
If you’re not content to just relax and enjoy the lodge there is many activities that can keep you busy! Head out chimp trekking on forest walks, birding treks or Bigodi swamp tours to really immerse yourself in nature. There is a great indoor and outdoor play area for kids as well.
Dining
Dining is offered in the main restaurant and usually a highlight for guests here! With some fantastic locally prepared and sourced dishes keeping you fed throughout the day! All ingredients are bought from the local farmers market where possible and dishes are fusion of local and international dishes.
Why Wayfairer
This property is part of a small collection of boutique lodges set up by a lovely family who have called Uganda home for generations. They try to hire local and are fantastic at training up the staff for a great client experience. The food is freshly sourced from the local area and as little plastic used around the lodge as possible.
