Overlooking the primeval Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Bwindi Lodge is a great option for your luxury stay in Bwindi. With dramatic intense views of the forest canopy across a serene stream, it is one of Africa’s unique properties. The gorillas frequently come to relax in the verdant bush around the lodge! The main living area has a central fireplace which acts as a focal point for guests to relax and discuss their gorilla tracking experience. A newly designed outdoor terrace gives dramatic views of the impenetrable forest and is a great place to spot the monkeys and birds hidden in the foliage. With eight individual Banda’s, each having their own view of the forest, offer warm luxurious interiors and inviting four poster beds and locally inspired furniture.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park lies in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Rift Valley. Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda's oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, which dates back over 25,000 years and contains almost 400 species of plants. More famously, this “impenetrable forest” also protects an estimated 400 mountain gorillas – roughly half of the world’s population, including several habituated groups, which can be tracked.

Bwindi Lodge is an ideal luxury option for any itinerary which includes the fantastic experience of Mountain Gorilla Trekking – and for those very lucky few, your spectacular location means you may spot the gorillas on the grounds of the lodge itself!

The Lodge

Bwindi Lodge has a full refurbishment in 2018 creating eight gorgeous Banda’s (cottages) tucked away in the forest bordering Bwindi National Park. Two deluxe Banda’s have recently been completed, ideal for honeymooners or those looking for that extra touch of luxury. Every Banda comes with your own private butler, large queen-sized beds, and well-appointed furniture all crafted from local materials. Enjoy your private veranda, with a couple of chairs to take in the view – you may even be one of the luxury ones who catches a Gorilla looking back at you!

The main area has been beautifully designed to let lots of light in and allow the feeling of sitting out in the forest itself! It’s elegantly furnished with a central fireplace and cosy a bar area for the evenings. Whilst you relax in your afternoons perhaps take a wander to the spa where you can enjoy a massage or treatment after your long trek. If you’re up for a stroll wander to the bottom of the grounds to the river or up the road into the small village of Buhoma. Whilst here check out Bwindi Bar – a brilliant initiative from Volcanoes Safaris to teach local talent in the hospitality industry.

A warm friendly atmosphere, enjoy your private Banda (cottage) the light spacious lounge and bar and the lush grounds leading down to the river! Gorilla trekking meeting point is a short walk away or drive depending which group you meet.
