Fort Bazaar - A Merchant's home-turned-luxury hotel

Cost Per Night
Perfect For

Couples, Families & Honeymoons

Fort Bazaar sits in a heritage building in Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site on Sri Lanka’s southern coast.

The 17th century building, derelict since the 1950’s, was painstakingly renovated over a period of nine years and transformed into a beautiful, boutique hotel which opened in January 2016.

This luxurious hotel has a modern, chic and laid-back ambience, and inspired by Galle Fort’s Moorish history it has a distinctly Middle Eastern vibe with Moroccan-style rugs and cushions, mosaic tiles and pendant lamps.

The hotel is built around a central courtyard which is very much the hub of Fort Bazaar, and the alfresco courtyard is a lovely place to enjoy afternoon tea or an evening cocktail.

The hotel’s 15 stylish ‘Bazaar’ and ‘Banyan’ rooms open onto the picturesque courtyard, whilst the three spacious ‘Upper Floor Suites’ have balconies with views over the fort’s red-tiled rooftops.

At the entrance of the hotel is Fort Bazaar’s acclaimed restaurant, Church Street Social, which serves delicious Sri Lankan cuisine with Arabic, Moroccan and Turkish influences.

The hotel offers guests the opportunity to join a cookery class where you can learn how to cook traditional dishes one-on-one with an expert chef.

Fort Bazaar is ideally located for visiting Galle Fort’s historic sites and attractions, as well as Galle’s international test cricket ground and the beautiful tropical beaches.
