Sao Tome & Principe Honeymoon Heaven

Welcome to the tropics of Sao Tome. Arriving in the early evening, you will be greeted warmly by our local representative who will drive you just 15 minutes to Omali Lodge. You’ll stay in the Honeymoon Suite for two nights with breakfast and dinner included, and plenty of places to head out for lunch on day trips or visits to town.

Take a walk along the road lined with palm trees, onto the beach where you can sample fresh coconuts, or make the most of the swimming pool, floodlit tennis courts, gym, restaurant and bar within Omali Lodge. With no change in time zone from the UK, it works very well for avoiding jetlag and remaining energised even on a short romantic trip or honeymoon.

After breakfast at Omali Lodge, you’ll be transferred to the Sao Tome airport for your morning flight to Principe Island. It’s a 35 minute flight and if you have the option, try to sit on the right-hand side of the plane to get the best views flying in.

On arrival in Principe, you’ll be warmly welcomed by local staff who will drive you to Roca Sundy, where you’ll stay for two nights in the Plantation House Master Suite on a full board basis with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Roca Sundy is a boutique hotel set on a former plantation, and you’ll discover the history of the plantation and meet the owner of a chocolatier to learn his techniques and taste the home grown cocoa.

You’ll also venture out on a three-hour Plantations Tour where you’ll learn all about the secrets of organic farming at the plantation house called Roca Paciencia. Savour the different aromas and tastes of Principe island’s aromatic herbs and medicinal plants, visit the gardens and see how the products are transformed into delicious jams, tropical muesli, toiletries and beauty products.

Today is a short, but lovely transfer after breakfast at Roca Sundy, to the beach lodge of Praia Sundy. You will stay at Praia Sundy for three nights in a tented villa on a full board basis, with breakfast, lunch and dinner. A tropical climate means this lodge is built amongst lush rainforests inhabited by small wildlife and birds, including some of the world's rarest species.

You’ll head out on a six-hour day trip which is a great way of getting to know the island’s culture and incredible scenery in just one day. You’ll visit Santo António, the smallest capital of the world and explore its secret corners. You’ll observe the beauty of organic farming and experience different aromas and tastes, before enjoying a local traditional meal. Snorkel and scuba excursions can be arranged and depending on the season, you may be lucky enough to see turtles or whales.

Today you will say goodbye to the team at Sundy Praia and transfer to Principe airport for the flight back to Sao Tome. After arriving on the main island at mid-morning, you’ll meet your representative driver for your transfer back to Omali Lodge.

You’ll have a day-use room at Omali Lodge before your flight home in the evening. Choose to visit town to buy some last-minute souvenirs or enjoy a final afternoon by the tropical swimming pool and gardens. Enjoy your night flight home and arrive after some serious rest and rejuvenation, with plenty of incredible memories and photos that you can look back on for the rest of your lives together.
