This lodge was opened in 2018 by the exclusive Zannier Hotel group, adding this luxurious and exclusive option to their portfolio of hotels in France, Belgium, Cambodia and Vietnam.

It is located north-east of the country’s capital and not too far from the international airport and fills a vacant niche for those on a high-end safari who want more from their first or last nights on holiday than a stay in the city itself.

Zannier Hotels partnered with the well-known N/a’an ku sê foundation to create a 9000 hectare private nature reserve within which the lodge sits.

Due to this collaboration with N/a’an ku sê, which among other things is a wildlife rehabilitation centre and sanctuary, the lodge is able to offer a number of wildlife experiences. Zannier pride themselves on being able to offer personal, intimate and unique activities so they can be customised upon request.

Due to it’s location it is most likely going to be your first stop on a trip around Namibia or the cherry on top of your trip before your leave, or maybe both. The following activities are available: a conservation drive around the beautiful reserve, rhino, elephant and predator tracking, visiting the resident meerkat colonies or a behind the scenes tour of N/a’an ku sê.

Back at the lodge there is a also a well-being area with an extensive spa menu that specialises in the finest organic, indigenous ingredients and apparently delivers outstanding and long-last results.

The camp

Omaanda has eight 1-bedoom huts suitable for 2 adults and one child and two 2-bedrooms huts that comfortably house two adults and up to two children. The lodge accepts children aged over 6. The huts are built in a traditional Namibian style inspired by the architecture of the Owamdo, they are rounded with a thatched roof to help retain heat during the winter and keep in cool during the summer. They overlook at small lake nearby and the distant hills of the Khomas Hochland plateau and the design majors on a warm, homely and understated feel with luxury touches. They are well equipped with modern amenities such as a flat-screen TV, a Bluetooth sound bar, WiFi, A/C and a Nespresso coffee machine.

The open-sided lounge, reception and dining area in the main part of the lodge has lots of comfortable nooks and hideaways to relax with a book or just to enjoy the views. The expansive deck also includes a stunning heated swimming pool, which is very welcome in Namibia particularly during the winter months when swimming pool temperatures can be rather jarring. The adjacent pool bar and spa are also nice touches to the area.

Dining

The dining is as much as part of the experience as anything else at Omaanda and the highlight is a refined 4-course dinner menu served at the Ambo Delights restaurant.

The Zannier Hotel Group and the N/a’an ku sê foundation are working to return the 9000 hectare private nature reserve back to it’s natural state. As part of this they have some introduced some keystone species to the reserve that have been either relocated from elsewhere or reintroduced to complete the ecosystem, such as elephants, white rhinos and caracals. Visiting the lodge and therefore the reserve provides a value to the area to maintain it's conservation status for the future.
