Eagle’s Nest Chalets are beautiful, rustic chalets in the middle of the Klein Aus Vista Nature Reserve and with expansive views of the desert and the reserve.
Eagle’s Nest Chalets has 8 buildings made from traditional stone and some are actually built around large boulders that make up one of the interior walls. Each chalet has a separate bedroom, living room and outdoor verandahs with incredible views of the Namib Desert.
The sunsets out in the desert are incredible and the verandahs have unobstructed views of the incredible colours across the horizon.
The chalets stay cool during the daytime thanks to the stone but can get cold at night, which is why each is equipped with a fireplace for a roaring fire after sunset.
The best part of Eagle’s Nest Chalets is its atmosphere of solitude and space. While it’s only a 15-minute drive from the nearby Desert Horse Inn, the location itself is free of anything except wild nature and have easy access to local hiking trails.
The chalets back up onto a rocky mountain slope and are separated from each other leaving the feeling of space and relaxation.
Take food along to the chalets and experience a chance to escape modern day life and other people for the magnificent Namib desert.
There are eight individual chalets at Eagle’s Nest, with three of them being suitable for 3-4 people or families. Each chalet has twin beds (which can be arranged into a double bed), an ensuite bathroom with hot showers, a self-catering kitchen with a table and honesty bar, and a living room area with seats around a fireplace. The outdoor area also has a seating area to relax and admire the stunning desert vistas, and the chalets are strategically placed so you won’t meet anyone else.
Guests of Eagle’s Nest Chalets check in at the Desert Horse Inn and there is a restaurant for local Namibian cuisine and European dishes. The restaurant can arrange take away meals, breakfast platters and BBQ packages to take back to the chalets.
With limited facilities, guest spend their time taking part in outdoor activities such as sunset drives, desert tours, mountain bike trails and hiking trails.
Each chalet has its own fitted kitchen, but for those who don’t want to cook, then the main lodge, Desert Horse Inn, has a restaurant and take away options.
All the chalets are solar powered and easily allow the guest to connect with nature since the chalets are surrounded by the Namib Desert and local stones. Eagle’s Nest Chalets focuses on allowing guests to interact and admire nature, with activities such as cycling, hiking, cultural tours and horse riding on offer. They maintain a low carbon footprint as the chalets are quite self-sustainable and offers guests everything they need, but without the lavish extras.
