Couples, Adults & Honeymooners.
On the eastern side of Etosha National Park and just 10 kilometres from the Von Lindequist Gate into the national park sits the stylish Mushara Outpost, it is one of four lodges in the Mushara collection.
Accessed through a private gate onto the reserve, just off the main road leading into the park, Mushara Outpost is a secluded and intimate base for those wishing to explore this side of the park.
The lodge runs morning and afternoon game drives with their expert guides or it is easy to drive into the park independently in your own vehicle.
The lodge is set in beautiful, well-manicured gardens and for the keen birdwatcher just sitting in the main area with a pair of binoculars will offer plenty of entertainment.
At the end of the pathway which leads to the rooms there is also a small hide which can also present some good bird watching and sightings of smaller mammals such as the dik-diks and steenboks which have found a safe haven around the lodge.
The lodge has just eight tented rooms, constructed from canvas, wood and glasses, therefore it accommodates a maximum of 16 people. The lodge has quite an adult feel, so it works particularly well for adult couples or honeymooners. The main area which is designed like an old farmhouse serves as a comfortable lounge, reading area and dining area. There is also a decent sized swimming pool a short distance from the main area
We love the design and style and Mushara Outpost’s main area. It is where you are welcomed upon arrival into the lodge and it is very striking. It is modelled on a an old farmhouse theme, with a corrugated roof and a large veranda, it can be opened on three sides to make the most of the surrounding garden, which are obviously well taken of. Inside, it has a traditional feel with a fusion of African artefacts and antiquities and clean, fresh fabrics combining to give comfortable, homely and quirky vibe. A large central dining table dominates the space and either side there are open fireplaces and lots of seating area to enjoy one of the many relevant magazines or books.
A paved pathway leads from the main area to each of the tents. Inside the tented rooms are very spacious and uncluttered, giving them a light and airy feel, with large sliding doors that open onto a private raised wooden deck, overlooking the surrounding bush. We particularly like the glass walled shower enabling you to enjoy the location of the rooms even while bathing.
Mushara Outpost has a good sized swimming pool, WiFi, a large main area, well-manicured gardens, well-stocked book shelves and a communal fireplace.
Dining is normally enjoyed communally either inside at the impressive dining table or outside in the garden under the impressive night sky.
The Mushara Collection is the only family-run collection of properties in Eastern Etosha and the owners Marc and Mariza Pampe still see this as their home. They are heavily involved in the day to day running of the lodges and it is testament to their faith and the progression of their staff than some of the original team from the early days of May 1998 are still involved to this day. The Mushara collection now provides employment for around 90 people.
