Formerly called Camp Onduli, Onduli Ridge is comprised of six characterful “cottages” , each positioned for perfect privacy and immersion in the Damaraland desert landscape that stretches in every direction.
Each suite comes with a “star bed”, a bed that can be rolled out from the coolness of the cottage to face the night sky, as guests embark on a star safari.
If you find it possible to tear yourself away from your en-suite enclave, a visit to the main lodge will delight you with its library, infinity pool, bar, atmospheric campfire circle and a deck built for lounging.
Days are active and adventurous, with the possibility for rhino and elephant tracking, walks to explore ancient rock art, and even more primordial nature, in addition to ‘e-biking’, taking the strain off the conventional mountain bike-ride thanks to solar energy.
Resident wildlife includes desert-adapted black rhino and elephant, as well as firm favourites such as cheetah, leopard, lion and hyena.
Guests fond of their creature comforts needn’t be concerned for the camp’s remote setting: artisanal coffee, authentic pizza, refreshing cocktails and sumptuous cuisine all await back at the lodge, as well as plenty of Wifi for sending photographs back home…
Taking its name from the giraffe, Onduli Ridge is true to form and stands head and shoulders above the competition.
Alongside its impeccable credentials as an architectural masterpiece and a game-lover’s dream, Onduli Ridge boasts an array of conservation activities, some of which offer guests an exciting look behind-the-scenes of pioneering efforts to protect the planet. To name but a few, Onduli Ridge is particularly committed to sharing the benefits of tourism with the local communities and the conservancy itself, through a range of initiatives including sightings fees. It will also support the Save The Rhino Trust by helping to fund a tracking team. Giraffes - the camp’s namesake – will also benefit, since the Camp is supporting efforts to conserve the Angolan desert giraffe. You needn’t feel guilty about the Wi-Fi, either, since the camp is 100% solar-powered.
