Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge - A mix of plush comfort & untamed wilderness

COST PER NIGHT
PERFECT FOR

Couples, Families & Honeymoons

Set amidst an incredible conservancy in eastern Namibia, and teeming with wildlife, Nkasa Lupala Tented Lodge is the perfect mix of plush comfort and untamed wilderness.

Less than a kilometre from Nkasa Rupara National Park, Mudumu National Park and surrounded by wetlands, this undeveloped region looks like Botswana’s Okavango Delta, but without all the tourists.

A rich area, with a vast variety of wildlife, animals from all over come to bathe in the swamps, wetlands and lakes of Nkasa Rupara.

Nkasa Lupala Lodge offers a range of activities and excursions from the tented camp, with knowledgeable guides available to show you the highlights of the region.

The lodge has its own dock and offers an enjoyable boat cruise along a channel of the Kwando-Linyanti river, showcasing a unique landscape and variety of bird and animal life.

If water levels are too low, then the lodge offers walking safaris, visits to local villages and night safari drives.

Expect to see a diverse amount of species, and this region is favoured by travellers who have been on traditional safaris and want a chance to see and savour a more remote region of Namibia.

The tented lodge

The tented rooms all maximise privacy, comfort and views of the Conservancy, with wildlife wandering right past the elevated rooms. The 10 luxury tents are spaced well apart and blend into bush effortlessly, so watching elephants, hippos and occasionally lions, on your veranda feels like it’s just you them in the uninhabited wilderness. Suited more for adventurous travellers who want to be as close to wildlife as possible, Nkasa Lupala also prides itself on eco-friendly comfort, with the tents offering incredible standards of modern minimalism.

With canvas walls, a centrepiece king-sized bed draped over with a mosquito net and an ensuite bathroom complete with an eco-shower shaped in a spiral. There is one tent designated as a honeymoon tent, which features an outdoor bathtub with incredible views over the wetlands, and a family unit tent which has a small twin bedroom attached to the main bedroom. Younger children are not advised to visit Nkasa Lupala Lodge due to the presence of wild animals, including lions, around the lodge.

Facilities

An open, spacious main lounge elevated to provide stunning views of the wetlands, complete with bar, lounge area, dining room, viewpoint and campfire pit.

Dining

Family style dining on one long table where a daily set menu of local delicacies is served up.
