Today it’s an early morning, you will check out and be driven back to Cape Town to catch your scheduled flight direct to Tswalu where the next section of our adventure awaits.
You are heading to the northern cape and the Kalahari biosphere. Your fabulous accommodation is Tswalu Motse.
Against the dramatic backdrop of the Korannaberg Mountains, Tswalu Motse is an isolated oasis which lies baking beneath the Kalahari sun. Overlooking the stretches of arid savannah grasslands the property is scenically beautiful, its natural stone, thatch and wood structure illuminated by the changing light of day.
Nine secluded suites fuse contemporary furniture with traditional African style and boast sun decks with views over the waterhole. Character fireplaces banish the winter chill, and outdoor showers sluice away the heat of blazing summer mornings. Tswalu is known for its service and flexible programmes, individually tailored to meet your personal preferences.
You have the following two full days to explore Tswalu with your own private vehicle and guide. Making every day flexible as you please so you can really get the most out of this incredible location.
The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, shared with Botswana, is a 3.6 million hectare reserve and renowned for its black-maned lions, big cats and raptors. The Kalahari biosphere is also inhabited by the rare desert-adapted black rhino, meerkat colonies, pangolin and brown hyaena. All of which should be on anyone’s bucket list to see!
Being away from most major travel routes, the park gets few visitors, making it ideal for true explorers and wildlife enthusiasts. As part of an immersive trans-Africa adventure, from Augrabies Falls through to Namibia, a leisurely exploration of the Kalagadi is invariable well-rewarded.
In the shelter of the mountains – which also provide a dramatic backdrop to wildlife sightings – you can encounter Tswalu’s 240 kinds of bird and 80 mammal species, including Hartmann’s mountain zebra, wild dog, black maned lion, pangolin and aardvark.
It’s time to leave the desert behind. You’ll catch a scheduled flight to Johannesburg where you connect through to the southern Sabi Sands.
Your final South African location, certainly the best way to finish your time in this magical place is with your traditional Big 5 safari. Where better to do this than the famous Sabi Sand Game Reserve in Kruger.
Your luxury accommodation is the fantastic Londolozi Tree Camp.
Londolozi Tree Camp in the central Sabi Sand Reserve is built within the magnificent Jackalberry and Leadwood Trees, overlooking the Sand River. This elegant property is synonymous with exclusivity, attentive service and excellent game viewing. Tree Camp’s 6 luxury suites offer sophisticated spaces, well-finished accommodations and private decks with pools from which to enjoy the bush views.
Built off the ground and under thatch, the appealing main lodge features comfortable lounges, shaded decks and a central pool. Sumptuous meals are served in style and in the evenings, the lanterns throw a romantic glow over the occasion. Between game drives perhaps enjoy a nature walk, or take a yoga class at Founder’s Camp.
Your incredible trip may seem like it’s coming to an end as you travel to your final location, but it’s not over yet!
After a couple of lights and a quick helicopter transfer you will find yourself in the stunning Bazaurto archipelago and your final luxury destination, the gorgeous Azura Benguerra.
Surrounded by the turquoise Indian Ocean waters, the island is an unspoilt haven of swaying palms and soft white sand, reached via a 10 minute helicopter flight from the mainland. Blending modern chic and traditional Mozambique, the 18 luxurious villas are just footsteps from the beach. Each has its own private pool, outdoor sala and deck.
Dining is all part of the experience, and in a variety of different venues: from breakfast in the main area, to dinner on the beach under the stars, the gorgeous views and ocean breezes adding to the island ambiance. Azura has a spa and a fully-equipped 5 star PADI dive centre. A wide variety of optional activities can be arranged at an additional cost: land rover island drives, sunset dhow cruises, diving, snorkelling, fishing and island hopping. Benguerra’s considerable tidal range means low tide could be a fair distance from Azura.
Your final three full days can be as busy or as relaxed as you would like them to be. With complete flexibility on how to spend your day at your incredible location.
Bazaruto is a remarkably productive 1,430 km2 seascape that is connected by a chain of five picturesque islands. These extremely fertile terrestrial and marine ecosystems harbour many rare and endemic bird, reptile, and marine species, including over 2,000 fish species and iconic marine megafaunas such as whales, sharks, rays, dolphins, and turtles. The flagship species, however, is the dugong as the park is a stronghold for the last viable population within the Western Indian Ocean.
This string of five sandy islands offers some of the most iconic Mozambique water scenes you will find. With a range of diverse underwater life on offer you can head out and meet dolphins, whale sharks, humpback whales, manta rays, and green sea turtles! All protected within the marine park this sanctuary offers so much for those looking into the underwater world.
The main activities on these island’s centres around the beautiful water and wildlife. Take your time to learn some scuba diving, grab a snorkel or kayak to explore the under-water world. Of course, there is plenty of time for the beach, try some island hopping or pack some lunch and go for a beach picnic!
It’s a short 10 minute helicopter ride that brings you back to the mainland where you will be transferred to the airport to catch your return flights home.
This last flourish brings an end to this Ultimate Cape to Coast itinerary. You’ve had a city break, drunk some world class wine, explored the Kalahari, seen the Big 5 and relaxed on your own paradise island… With so many amazing new memories it’s now time to return home. But where to travel next…?
