This luxury camp is set by a seasonal waterhole within the private Kwara Reserve in the heart of the Okavango Delta. This huge reserve is home to just one other camp which means that guests at Splash Camp have an exclusive wildlife viewing experience.
The reserve has a reputation for its phenomenal wildlife sightings including herds of elephant, buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, tsessebe and kudu. Predators including lion, leopard and cheetah are regularly spotted in the Kwara Reserve, and the area is known for its regular sightings of African wild dog. It is also a birders paradise with over 300 bird species recorded.
Guests at Splash Camp can experience both land and water based activities - including game drives with highly skilled guides and trackers, night game drives, guided bush walks, boat trips, and mokoro (traditional dug-out canoe) rides in search of hippos, reptiles and a variety of exotic birds.
The land based activities offer an opportunity to cover more ground in your search for big game whilst the water based activities allow you to experience the beauty of the Okavango habitats and offer a unique perspective of wildlife at the water’s edge.
With its incredible wildlife encounters, gourmet meals, luxury tents, and highly experienced guides, this brand-new camp, which opened in June 2018, is a fantastic place to include on your Botswana itinerary.
Accommodation comprises of 12 luxury tents (includes two family rooms) built on raised wooden decks overlooking the waterhole.
The spacious and stylishly decorated tents feature sumptuous king size beds and contemporary furniture which complements the camp’s atmosphere. All tents are en-suite with flush toilets, double sinks, and indoor and outdoor showers, plus private verandahs with comfortable lounge chairs where you can relax and gaze out over the incredible landscape.
The camp’s main area features a plunge pool where you take a refreshing dip after a dusty game drive. There’s also a lounge and dining area where guests sit around a large communal table and enjoy a delicious three-course meal each evening. You can help yourself at the well-stocked bar, and tea and coffee are always available.
Closer to the waterhole there’s a fire pit which is the perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks whilst reflecting on the day’s exciting wildlife sightings.
Located away from the main camp, Splash Encave accommodates between 6- 10 guests and is a perfect option for families. Featuring a separate plunge pool, lounge, bar and dining facilities, Splash Encave offers a private setting while allowing flexibility around activities and meal times.
Facilities include a plunge pool, well-stocked bar where tea and coffee are always available, a large lounge with comfy sofas, dining area and central fire pit.
Breakfast is served around the fire pit, whilst lunch is typically enjoyed out in the bush. A three-course meal is served in the evenings with guests sitting together at a communal table.
