The hotel enjoys spectacular views out across the Indian Ocean with rooms set amongst lush gardens. With its fabulous location above the beautiful Nungwi beach, its superb restaurants, local dive centre and mini spa it is the perfect place for couples or families with teens (doesn't accept under 12s, however the adjoining Kidoti villas accepts children of all ages). The location of the hotel allows for a long stroll along the beach. During low tide you can walk around the cliff edges for an extensive walk along the lovely beach, you also have an area with bars and restaurants, allowing for a varied experience.
At the hotel, guests can enjoy the open-air restaurant and taste fusion African and European cuisines, have a drink at the rooftop cocktail bar, enjoy a light snack at the Z Café, or the charming Cinnamon Café, overlooking the Indian ocean.
Different to many hotels in other parts of the island you can swim off the beach at low and high tide.
The Z Hotel offers quality and comfort, and a simple elegant style. Each air-conditioned room has four-poster beds, floor-to-ceiling glass doors leading to a balcony, which has a garden, beach, or sea view and comes equipped with flat-screen TVs, WiFi, a telephone, a minibar, a safe, and iPhone docking stations. Complimentary toiletries by Inaya Zanzibar are provided in the bathrooms.
You can also book a day trip to Stone Town. Guests may also explore the Jozani Forest and see red colobus monkeys, indigenous to Zanzibar, or experience the spices that made Zanzibar a trading hub for different cultures. Visit the Zanzibari ruins or head to the sea turtle sanctuary – there’s something for all tastes and interests.

The hotel
The Z Hotel offers 39 rooms in different categories; 17 deluxe sea-view rooms, 16 deluxe garden-view rooms, three rooftop suites, two oceanfront cottages and one Z Suite.
The deluxe rooms are on the smaller side and stylishly decorated with tea/coffee making facilities, mini bar, electronic safe and hair dryer, as well as their own private deck and offer either garden or sea view. Rooftop suites are on the 3rd floor and offer a full view of the ocean, an outside shower, a sitting area and a private deck overlooking the garden or coast line. The Z Suite offers an opulent living space with a lounge area and cocktail bar, a super king bed and a Jacuzzi.
The Ocean Cottages offer a more private and luxurious experience and are totally separate from the rest of the accommodation. Built into the side of a cliff and arranged over two floors they have their own kitchenette, outdoor showers and a floating deck to enjoy the ocean.
Z- Hotel also offers Kidoti Villas, located in the nearby village of same name and include private pools, decking, landscaped gardens, sun-loungers, an outdoor shower and much more.
There are four different choices for food and drinks, including a cocktail bar, an Asian-inspired café overlooking the ocean, the Z Café offering desserts such as cakes and light snacks, and the Saruche, an open air restaurant which extends onto the beach for those who prefer dining under the stars.
Beyond these amenities, the Z Hotel also has an infinity pool, the Azizi Boutique, full of East African crafts, soaps, clothes and more. There is also a mini spa and a dive centre.
