Tena Tena Camp

Tena Tena is the very first camp opened by Robin Pope and offers a truly authentic safari camp feel from a bygone era when safari goers first started visiting the park. This camp is perfect for those wanting an intimate and exclusive safari experience, paired back decor, with simple yet comfortable African charm.

The Nsefu Sector offers great wildlife sightings from the hundreds of bird species to all the larger African wildlife you expect to see on safari. What differs here is that the camp is built to minimize the effects of man as much as possible and therefore hippo tracks and wildlife avenues are not impeded by the design of the camp itself. It is quite common to see animals pass close by and sometimes though the camp in the evenings and early mornings.

The camp offers simplistic comfort, a sense of ease and peacefulness that one cannot overlook. Tena Tena holds a very special place in the Robin Pope Safari brand’s heart and the pride, love and care can be felt in everything they do here.

As Tena Tena is the only camp in the area, activities are exclusive meaning you get an intimate safari experience when out in the wild and will not have any issues getting another camp’s vehicle in your photo shot or having animals scared away by passing vehicles. Activities here include day and night game drives, walking safaris, village tours, visit to the Wildlife Education Centre and experiencing the local tribal textile trade and markets for authentic local arts and crafts.

Getting to the camp is a wonderful experience in itself and part of your African safari journey. A flight from either Lusaka in Zambia or  Lilongwe in Malawi to Mfuwe is needed. You will then take a scenic 1-hour 15minute road transfer from Mfuwe airport to the camp.

Due to the authentic nature of the camp and the ability to be very close to nature and wildlife, Tena Tena welcomes children aged 12 and over.
