Couples, Families & Honeymooners
Resting high on the rim of the crater, the Ngorongoro Serena Safari Lodge blends into the hillside with a rock built exterior. Winding stone pathways, wooden decks, vine covered walls, and cave paintings create a characterful Tanzanian atmosphere, while plenty of viewing decks help make the beautiful panoramic views immediate. The lodge blends an ancient feel with modern comforts, with big fires, enclosed balconies, and an extensive list of activities.
Enjoy WiFi and 24 hour room service, as well as the TV room and gift shop. The spacious rock built dining room and bar wraps around a central, constantly lit fire, where you have a wide variety of cuisine to choose from, as well as carefully chosen beverages.
One of the highlights of the lodge is its close proximity to the entrance and exit to the crater, meaning that you have more time to enjoy game drives without queuing to enter the crater. Game drives are a must do, and so are the generous breakfasts and lunches in the crater.
Explore the rim of the crater with guided walks and hikes, or go on an excursion to the Empakaai Crater or Olduvai Gorge, which will open up your eyes to fascinating environmental history.
Visit Maasai villages or attend a cultural talk in the lodge to learn about the rich culture of the area. Evenings are made special with experiences such as summer bush dinners, crater rim sundowners, and acrobatic entertainment in the bar before dinner.
Rooms have a charming Tanzanian feel. Standard rooms feature soft neutral colours, cave painting decoration, and warm wood furniture, which create a traditional safari atmosphere. Large windows open out on to private enclosed stone balconies, with panoramic views of the crater. The en-suite bathroom is well appointed with boutique amenities.
The Kimba Suite is spacious and appointed with a king size bed, a dressing area and a natural stone en-suite, featuring double vanities and bathrobes. The cosy sitting room has wonderful views and a multi-channel TV and DVD player. Just like the standard rooms, the suite boasts a generous stone-built balcony with crater views.
The dining room and bar is spacious, romantically lit, and is lovingly built with stones. The grand floor to ceilings in the restaurant are a real highlight of this charming space. Meals are made from locally sourced produce wherever possible. Large viewing terraces throughout the property guarantee that you can marvel at the view whenever you want.
The facilities at the lodge include a spacious main restaurant, viewing terraces, and low rise guest accommodation.
Dinner are normally served at individual tables and guests can enjoy various international cuisines, crater dining experiences, and pre-dinner entertainment.
