Families, couples
Built originally as a family residence with Victorian high ceilings, original floorboards and a light, airy feel, Antrim Villa is a charming spot from which to explore Cape Town. Sitting beneath Signal Hill, a prime spot to catch the golden sunsets over the city, the villa has a chic Afro Scandinavian style that is accentuated with materials like sisal, bamboo and linen.
The tranquil garden with sun beds, citrus trees and large blue saltwater pool provides a haven to rejuvenate in between excursions and a relief from the heat of the summer sun. Come winter, the crackling fireplace beckons guests to the lounge for a hot cup of tea or glass of pinot noir.
Antrim Villa is located in Green Point and is nestled between the V&A Promenade and Camps Bay so you are perfectly located to venture into the hustle and bustle of the city, as well as to the quieter beaches down the peninsula. From the haven of Antrim Villa you can explore Camps Bay's best beach bars, Cape Town's fine dining restaurants, contemporary art galleries and Long Street's cafes and boutiques.
The Villa has two types of rooms; standard rooms and luxury rooms. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, safe, fan and heaters. The luxury rooms have iPod docking stations and mini-fridges as well. Among the guesthouse amenities you will find free internet access at a working station with a laptop and printer and an honesty bar. Wireless internet is free. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and fresh fruit are complimentary and can be enjoyed at all times.
Despite being very close to the the buzz of the city, Antrim Villa provides a calm refuge. The personal, intimate feeling is reinforced by the fact that there are only eight rooms. Seven of these are double and one is single.
Each room has an en-suite bathroom that’s adorned with Scandinavian simplicity, with a sprinkle of Africa. All bedrooms are spacious with high ceilings, a relaxing atmosphere and extra-length European beds that can be semi-detached on request and that come with 100% cotton sheets. After a day exploring Cape Town, our favourite spot at Antrim Villa is the sun-drenched, yet secluded tropical bamboo garden perfect for an iced coffee or cold glass of South African Chenin Blanc. After, the large tropical swimming pool is just around the corner for a refreshing afternoon dip before heading out for dinner.
If you want something a little more private, there are two new off-site apartments. One is a studio apartment and one is a larger apartment ideal for families. The new additions are within walking distance of the home base and are, for the most part, self-catering options for couples and independent travellers who want a little more solitude. However, you can still book the apartments on a bed-and-breakfast basis and wander across to the main house for breakfast. For self drivers, there is safe off-street parking and 24-hour service and security.
Management at Antrim Villa are available 24-hours a day and are extremely attentive and happy organise taxis, day trips or assist you with any queries.
There is a breakfast room, an honesty bar and snacks available, but there is no lunch or dinner available at Antrim Villa.
Antrim Villa has been awarded a Fair Trade in Tourism certificate for its conscious effort to support entrepreneurs and its mantra ‘think global, buy local’. The team also runs the guest house in an eco-friendly way and has incorporated recycling and energy saving into everything they do.
