Omali Lodge is close to the centre of Sao Tome island's capital city and just 15 minutes drive from the airport. This makes it ideal as your first and or last port of call for all Sao Tome & Principe itineraries depending on your exact flight times and onward travel. This coastal-style boutique hotel is opposite Legarto beach and is the perfect place for families, couples and friends to base themselves on Sao Tome. Omali Lodge is so lovely, you could choose to stay here for the duration of your trip, but many choose to stay here before or after a visit to Principe island too.
A short distance from the beach, its name, Omali, meaning ‘ocean and source of life’ reflects its location opposite Lagarto Beach. The calmness of the hotel exudes an easy-going, tranquil ambience throughout its 30 rooms and intimate indoor and outdoor social areas, including a stunning palm-lined swimming pool skirted by tropical gardens.

The Lodge
Being boutique in style, you can expect these rooms to be tastefully decorated with everything you could desire for a comfortable stay. Both first floor and ground floor accommodation options include an ensuite bathroom, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a tea and coffee station, a minibar and lovely views across the pool and gardens.
The poolside restaurant is a great place to kick back and enjoy locally sourced cuisine and you can choose from full board, half board or bed and breakfast options for your stay.

The hotel's natural feel echoes the whole island's natural feel. The hotel tries to incorporate as many sustainable initiatives, such as using local produce, effective recycling and eco-friendly construction.
In 2010, entrepreneur Mark Shuttleworth founded the ecotourism and agroforestry group HBD Príncipe (HBD) and has since invested in several areas in the North of Príncipe, including Bom Bom and Sundy. Prior, to this the government proposed allowing a large palm oil producer to clear more than 1,000 hectares for plantations. Despite the investment to the country, this would bring, the regional government opposed this and instead decided to work with Mark Shuttleworth who shared their vision for the future of the island.
An incredible accomplishment came in 2012, when the combined efforts of the government, local community and HBD saw Príncipe designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve: this is a globally recognised title of a protected area. This signifies where human communities work alongside the environment around them.
