Drift over pristine coral reefs, exploring a previously uninhabited oceanic wilderness.

Spend seven nights on a remote island in the outer Seychelles, diving barely discovered coral reefs and exploring previously uninhabited oceanic wilderness.
It’s quite a journey to get to Cosmoledo Atoll, in the furthest reaches of the Seychelles Outer Islands, but it’s very well worth it for the adventurous souls that spread their wings this far. This unique scuba diving trip will take you to pristine, little-explored coral reefs, boasting excellent visibility and teeming with colourful coral marine life, large schools of fish, manta rays, dolphins, migrating whales, sharks and large grouper.

You’ll stay in the Cosmoledo Atoll’s laidback eco-camp on Wizard Island, which leaves little to no footprint on the island itself, but you’ll want for nothing with cloud-like beds, an expansive veranda that effortlessly draws the outdoors in, air-conditioning and an outdoor shower.

If you love discovering out-of-the-way destinations with impeccable underwater and overwater wilderness and wildlife then the Cosmoledo Scuba Diving Trip is for you.

What's Included:

  • Charter flights too/from Mahe + boat transfers (Astove - Cosmo return)
  • Accommodation and all meals
  • Non-alcoholic drinks & wine with dinner
  • 5 guided dives + non-motorized activities & equipment

Trip Itinerary

Days 1 - 8: Cosmoledo Atoll

Day 1 - Travel to Cosmoledo Atoll

You’ll meet your charter flight from Mahe at the IDC hanger and begin your journey 1.030km south to the Cosmoledo Atoll. You’ll stop enroute at Alphone Island (a 3hr flight) to refuel, before landing at Astove Atoll to meet your boat to Cosmoledo. A dive-check is offered this afternoon in the lagoon, time permitting.

Days 2 – 7: Diving the waters of the Outer Seychelles

You’ll enjoy one dive each day, timed according to weather, so you’ll have ample opportunity to explore exciting dive sites on and around the atoll. You can expect rich stretches of coral reefs and sightings of turtles, rays and sharks are common too. In your down time you can wander the coastal trails of the island, have sundowners on the beach, go kayaking, snorkelling the island and lagoon mouth and paddleboarding. All of which are included in your stay. Or just laze on the picture-perfect beaches where not a soul will disturb you as you soak up the magic of this castaway ocean wilderness.

All meals and non-alcoholic drinks are included during your stay (wine is included with dinner) with a continental breakfast, and fresh fish and green harvested from neighbouring Alphonse Island for lunch and dinner. Meals are a social event, giving you the chance to connect with like-minded ocean enthusiasts at Cosmoledo’s spacious, barefoot dining and lounge room.

On your last day you’ll have one final dive in the morning, with a chance to de-gas in the afternoon and enjoy the island’s leisure activities.

Day 8 - Travel to Mahe

After breakfast you will be transferred to Astove to meet your charter flight to Mahe, stopping over at Alphonse to refuel. Here you can connect with your international flight home or choose to linger longer and explore the Seychelles Inner Islands and the Northern Seychelles.

Why Wayfairer

Cosmoledo and the Outer Seychelles Islands are a conservation hot pot; a protected area for giant Aldabra tortoises, nesting sites for Hawksbill and Green turtles and hundreds of thousands of migratory birds make landfall here each year. These islands are also home to protected coral reefs, a number of endemic vegetation rehabilitation projects and Manta rays, which are tracked and monitored by the ICS (Island Conservation Society), based on Alphonse Island. The preservation of these wild areas becomes apparent from the moment you arrive and descend into some of the least explored ocean landscapes in the Indian ocean.
