Day 2 - Exploring Buenos Aires

After breakfast, you’ll be met at your hotel by your private English-speaking guide, for a half-day city tour of Buenos Aires. Your guide will adapt the tour to your interests and help you get your bearings in this exciting city. You’ll see all the highlights, beginning with a stroll down Avenida 9 de Julio, the widest avenue in the world.

You’ll then head to the beautiful Teatro Colon Opera House, Plaza de Mayo and its famous pink government house Casa Rosada, and the historical Italian-immigrant districts of La Boca and San Telmo, where the city was born. Venture to the upmarket area of Puerto Madero, filled with superb restaurants, chic cafes, and stylish locals, followed by the Recoleta neighborhood, where you can wander the huge cemetery where Argentina’s most famous people are buried. You’ll finish the tour in trendy Palermo, where you may like to explore the lush parklands.

This evening, you’ll enjoy a gourmet dinner and a Rojo Tango show. Reminiscent of a French Cabaret from the 20th century, Rojo Tango provides an intimate and exclusive experience for just 100 people, and it's the only place that offers VIP treatment for guests of a tango show in Buenos Aires. You’ll indulge in superb gastronomic delights and marvel at the incredible performances, costumes and orchestra, as you witness the history of tango through this lively production.

Days 3 - 5: El Calafate

Day 3 - Transfer to El Calafate

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before getting picked up by your private driver and driven to Jorge Newbery Airport for your domestic flight to El Calafate. On arrival at the airport, you’ll join a shared transfer to Eolo Lodge, a Relais & Chateaux property in Patagonia, and your accommodation for the next three nights.

Eolo Lodge is located halfway between the city of El Calafate and Los Glaciares National Park, so you’ll be far from the crowds, yet within range of the spectacular Patagonia wilderness. From anywhere on the property, you’ll be able to see the spectacular scenery, and you may feel an aura of adventure, as this is where the first creole and European immigrants of the area set foot.

After checking in, you’ll be led to your lavish room with stunning views of the 10,000-acre property and surrounding mountains. You’ll find cozy lounges set in front of large windows, so you can marvel at the scenery from the privacy of your room. Each spacious room is uniquely styled with pastel colors and antique furniture, portraying the spirit of a southern Argentine estancia (ranch).

As you reach ‘Bajo de las Sombras’ (Under the Shadows) Port, you’ll board a shared boat to make the 20-minute crossing over the icy waters of the ‘Brazo Rico’ part of the Argentino Lake.

You’ll glide past broken icebergs and breathtaking scenery before being met by your mountain guide on the opposite shore. Venture into the magical forest and along the icy ‘beach’, as your expert guide points out fascinating plant species. As you reach the glacier, you’ll put crampons over your shoes to begin your incredible trek over the glacier. You’ll walk for less than an hour, allowing you to soak up the glittering hues of this enchanting wonderland. The trek will end with a toast using glacier ice, before returning to the refuge for lunch.

Enjoy your lunch box (provided by Eolo Lodge), before sailing back to the mainland and walking along the platforms in front of the glacier, to catch some impressive views and pictures of this spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site.
