Honeymoons & Couples
A unique property, Wildwaters Lodge sits on its own private island in the middle of the Nile river. Relax in the natural swimming pool or own bathtub on your private balcony as the mighty river roars past over rocky rapids.
Fall asleep to the sounds of the Nile in beautiful cottages or watch for birds, river otters and giant monitor lizards from the comfort of your own balcony.
Explore the Nile river by boat or even try whitewater rafting; the most popular activity in Jinja. A trip on the original boat from the 1951 movie The African Queen, can even be arranged for guests of Wildwaters Lodge.
The rooms are a spacious 92 sqm and all have incredible waterfront views of the Nile and its rapids from the room and private decks.
On the decks are free standing bathtubs to relax after an adventurous day exploring Uganda, and their ensuite bathrooms are equally grand, with stone wash basins hand carved from local granite and hot water rain showers.
The Wildwaters Reserve entrance fee and all meals come inclusive of room bookings, so all you need to worry about is what swimsuit to wear.
The 10 cottages all feature comfortable double beds draped with mosquito nets, private views of the Nile River both from the bed and balcony, and free-standing bathtubs on private balconies. One room has been appointed for families, so offers a double and single bed. The rooms are designed with canvas walls, thatched roofs, local handicrafts and handmade furniture to create a peaceful and natural atmosphere. The gushing river and local bird calls can be heard from the rooms and this adds to the feeling of being in nature. Bird watchers will enjoy seeing migratory birds on their balconies in October and November.
The main lodge area is linked to the rooms by elevated wooden walkways meandering through the forest cover of Kalagala island, and in the evenings, the soft ambience of the lighting makes Wildwaters Lodge feel romantic and remote. The swimming pool is part of a basin that has been carved out over the centuries by the river and is right next to the Nile. Children are welcome at Wildwaters Lodge but must be supervised at all times, as the rapids are dangerous.
Facilities at Wildwaters include a natural swimming pool, day spa, a library, and a range of activities available on offer from partner company Adrift.
Rooms are inclusive of all meals, including two-course lunches and five-course dinners. Certain non-premium drinks are also included, as are transfers and entry fees to the Wildwaters Reserve
Not only is Wildwaters Lodge a unique property but the lodge is focused on keeping the river environment healthy and protected. The lodge covers over 6 hectares of a forested island and is focused on preserving the local forests and stopping illegal logging in the country. All the materials for the lodge were sourced locally from sustainable forests, and electricity is partly generated by a water wheel. The bar is made from logs on the riverbanks leftover from illegal loggers in the past and the restaurant sources food as locally and organically as possible.
