Lisu Lodge is run by members of the local Lisu hill tribe, who also lead the many exciting cultural and adventurous experiences on your doorstep.
A short drive from Chiang Mai, the lodge comprises 20 spacious guest rooms, each with an en-suite and overlooking the lush fields surrounding the area. The rooms are all built in traditional Lisu style, blending modern comforts including WiFi.
Cultural visits include a guided tour of the local village, complete with a cup of tea and a conversation with the local shaman.
There is also the opportunity to explore the community garden (where your food is home-grown), enjoy a traditional Thai cooking class, and even learn to concoct a Thai feast.
Meanwhile, outdoor adventures range from hiking to white-water rafting, and from cycling tours to exploring a nearby tea plantation, where you can pluck your own leaves and brew them into a delicate, fresh drink.
The lodge is the perfect opportunity for adventurous families or couples to enjoy a cultural immersion, whilst contributing positively during their holiday.
The proceeds from the lodge are shared directly with the Lisu community, benefiting the villagers and fostering cultural exchange between locals and their guests.
To us at Wayfairer, travel is all about sincere interactions and mutual exchange. Lisu Lodge encapsulates our conviction that community-led tourism is one of the most responsible ways to travel, and further upholds our belief that you can both do good and feel great at the same time. Lisu Lodge’s impact on the environment is minimal, maximising the use of traditional agricultural methods and utilising typical Lisu architectural styles and building materials. A few days in the countryside of Thailand’s north will surely reset you internally, filling you with peace and a sense of connection, both with your travel companions, your hosts, and the beautiful natural scenery around you.
