A feast of lively streets, mouth-watering food and non-stop fun

Bangkok is the colourful, buzzing capital where you'll find it all. Glimmering temples and traditional stilted wooden houses sit alongside the towering skyscrapers and lavish rooftop dining scene.

Internationally renowned restaurants and Michelin starred chefs serve up delectable dishes next to the side streets where tantalising aromas waft from an array of food carts.

Air-conditioned megamalls are brimming with luxury boutiques, while Chinatown's vibrant flea markets and the traditional floating markets are always in full swing.

Venture into the maze of bustling, neon-lit streets where no corner is ever the same, or drift towards the peaceful klongs (canals) of the Chao Phraya River where life moves a little slower.

This fascinating city is the perfect starting point for any luxury holiday in Thailand. Whether you stay for a couple of days or more, Bangkok will reward you with rich culture, luxurious experiences and playful adventure.

With so many incredible attractions to take in, it can be overwhelming when choosing where to begin. We'll arrange for a locally guided tour to introduce you to some of Bangkok's most impressive places including the famous Grand Palace, What Phra Kaew and Wat Po.

The dazzling Grand Palace is a huge complex, home to a succession of Thai Kings. Built in 1785, the Palace marked the founding of Bangkok as the new capital city, after the Burmese invasion and destruction of Ayutthaya.

The grand Wat Phra Kaeo is the holiest Buddhist site in Thailand, sitting on the grounds of the Grand Palace. Wat Po is Bangkok's oldest temple housing the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, a magnificent golden Buddha lying at 46 metres long.

Throughout your tour, you'll move like a Bangkok local, trying out the klong (canal) boats, the Chao Phraya River public ferry and the fantastic BTS Skytrain. It's the best way to get up close to the city and discover the friendly, fun-loving spirit of the Thai people.

Discover a quieter side to Bangkok with a tranquil cruise through the klongs by long boat. Take a trip to Damneon Saduak floating market, around 12km south of Downtown Bangkok.

At the end of the day be sure to indulge in Bangkok's luxurious offerings. Visit a sumptuous spa for a massage, then watch the sunset from one of the city's incredible rooftop restaurants and bars.

Best times to visit Bangkok

Bangkok is a year-round destination with plenty of things to do in all types of weather. December to February is the best season, with warm, dry days and pleasantly cool nights. This is considered the winter season with temperatures dropping below 20 degrees celsius at night, however the days are still bursting with beautiful sunshine. March to May are the hottest months, perfect for lounging by the pool or cruising down the river. The Thai New Year is celebrated in April and is a fantastic event to witness, with lots of lively celebrations. May to October is the low season with cooler, rainy days. July and August are the wettest months of the monsoon season, however visitors can dodge the frequent yet short bouts of rain by visiting temples, malls and the range of huge entertainment complexes strewn across the city.
