High up in the treetops of Bwabwata National Park is Nambwa Tented Lodge. A luxury tented camp that hugs the trees in the heart of Mayuni Conservancy and allow the local wildlife to pass freely underneath the lodge.
Nambwa Tented Lodge is the adult’s version of a tree house hideaway and a unique place to stay in Namibia.
Located in Caprivi, a small strip of Namibian land close to the borders of Zimbabwe, Botswana and Angola, this area sees far fewer travellers, yet is possibly one of the best places to explore the remote Namibian outback.
The Caprivi strip has a different terrain to the rest of Namibia and combined with a trip to Nambwa Tented Lodge, it will almost feel like another country.
The tented suites are a generous 110 square metres and have a seating area, en-suite facilities and large outdoor decks with amazing safari views.
Game viewing can be done from each private deck or the lodges main outdoor space, with the area home to over 35 species of game and around 300 different species of bird.
From the main deck of the lodge, guests can enjoy immense views of the Bwabwata National Park, with elephants, buffalo, zebra and ostriches wandering the flood plains.
Don’t be surprised if they seek shelter at night under Nambwa Tented Lodge - this is probably the closest you’ll ever get to sleeping with an elephant.

The lodge
Nambwa Tented Lodge has 10 tented rooms, that are connected to the main lodge via a raised wooden walkway. As a luxurious lodge, each tent is elegantly decorated in subtle white and safari colours, featuring a king-sized bed draped with mosquito net, an ensuite bathroom with shower, biodegradable toiletries and a bathtub with savannah views. The rooms also come with a sitting area and spacious outdoor decks, with morning coffee served on your private deck with the wake-up call.
Since the whole property is raised, Nambwa Tented Lodge doesn’t block the walkway of animals, which roam freely on the ground level. The main lodge has a stylish bar and dining room, with a long, large table, and plush chairs for communal dinners. The outdoor deck area has a spacious boma with a firepit in the middle for the cooler evenings, and a library offering a display on the history of the local area.
