Luxury Iceland Holidays
Iceland: Fire, ice, and flowing light
Country description
Iceland is raw and alive, shaped by volcanoes, glaciers, and cascading falls. It is a country of shifting skies, black beaches, and geothermal warmth. Travelers come for nature’s drama but stay for the quiet moments between—the sound of wind, the glow of northern lights, and the sense of being far yet at peace.

When to go to Iceland
Deep winter with short days, snow-covered landscapes, and a good chance of seeing the Northern Lights. Best for people who want quiet, winter scenery, and hot springs.
Still very much winter, but daylight increases. Ideal for aurora hunting, ice caves, and blue-hour photography. Roads can be icy, so guided touring is recommended.
A transition month. You still get snow and winter light, but days are longer and travel becomes easier. Good for combining waterfalls, glaciers, and the chance of Northern Lights.
Snow begins to melt at lower levels and the countryside starts to open up. A good shoulder month with fewer visitors and still dramatic weather for photographers.
Spring takes hold. Roads improve, birdlife returns, and it is easier to do ring-road touring. A solid month for people who want access without summer crowds.
The midnight sun arrives. Almost 24 hours of daylight, mild temperatures, and perfect for road trips, hiking, and exploring the Westfjords. One of the best months overall.
Peak summer. Green landscapes, open highland routes, whale watching, and festivals. Very popular, so book early and expect higher rates.
Still summer, but a little quieter than July. Great for hiking, puffins (early August), and long days. Late in the month, the first chances of Northern Lights return.
A beautiful shoulder month. Fewer tourists, autumn colors begin, and nights are dark enough for aurora. Good sea conditions and comfortable daytime temperatures.
Weather becomes more changeable, but this is a very atmospheric month. Good for Northern Lights, hot springs, and quieter Golden Circle visits.
Short days return, but that means more aurora time. Best for people who like winter breaks, spas, and cozy hotels. Roads in the north can be tricky.
Cold, dark, and magical. Christmas in Reykjavík, snowy landscapes, and long nights for Northern Lights. Ideal for short, scenic winter trips.

What our customers say
"Our African adventure in Feb. 2025 was beautifully planned and orchestrated by Wayfairer. [...] We cannot thank the team at Wayfairer enough for bringing this bucket list trip of a lifetime to fruition for us. "
"My wife and I agreed that our holiday in Cambodia was without doubt the best we have ever had. [...] It was the absolute brilliance of the staff of the company at every level [...] and when due to a travel delay, caused by extreme weather, rearranging and supporting us in a way that actually enhanced our holiday!"
"We have planned a leopard searching safari, we received the most accurate indications to find them. [...] We stayed in Kafunta and Three Rivers in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, then moved to Umkumbe and Kambaku in South Africa. All this was seamless, made easy for a couple 60+."
"We just got back from a 2 week trip to Japan. From our arrival to our departure, everything was fantastic! [...] The itinerary was great and having guides for most of our excursions made everything so much more enriching. [...] If they could figure out a way to instantly cure jet lag, they’d get a sixth star."
"We've just returned from a six night safari in Samburu National Park and Ol Pojeta Conservancy. [...] The before and aftercare was also very thorough and Aggie and Toon were so friendly. [...] It was worth every penny we paid."
