Hacienda Zuleta

Hacienda Zuleta is a stately setting amongst verdant green vistas. This 17th century historic building was formerly owned by one of Ecuador’s most favourable presidents - Galo Plaza Lasso and his family. Today, this working farm’s community feel and warmth emanates through whitewashed walls out into the cobbled courtyards. 

Staying in Hacienda Zuleta is like entering into a bygone era. The bedrooms are adorned with floods of light through wooden framed windows; the President’s Library overflows with literature; gardens and courtyards, blossom fringed and flowering. All of these have been expertly restored to showcase a lodge filled with heritage. 

Upon arrival in Ecuador, Zuleta is an ideal place to bed in and adjust to the altitude of the highlands for at least a couple of nights. This is a setting of sheer peace and relaxation, where guests are welcomed in as part of the family.

Cultural activities are a fantastic way to fill your day in the highlands. Learn to cook Andean specialities with a local chef, using the handpicked produce from the gardens. Try traditional embroidery techniques taught by a local seamstress.
