Next, you’ll head far north to San Pedro de Atacama, the gateway town to the Atacama Desert. You’ll explore the region’s natural treasures, from ancient volcanoes to mystical rock sculptures and moon-like valleys, and you’ll even learn how to read the night sky at a stargazing observatory.

You’ll head back to the centre of Chile to Casablanca, one of the greatest wine-growing regions in the country, then venture south to experience the astonishing beauty of Patagonia.

You’ll be staying in Torres del Paine National Park, Chile’s Patagonian jewel, and you’ll have the chance to go kayaking, sailing, trekking, biking, and horse riding with Patagonian gauchos.

Trip Itinerary

Days 1 - 2: Santiago

Day 1 - Arrival in Santiago

You’ll be met on arrival at Santiago International Airport in Santiago by a Wayfairer representative and escorted to your private vehicle. Your driver will take you through the city to Cumbres Lastarria, your accommodation for the next two nights.

Cumbres Lastarria is a sophisticated hotel set in the trendy Lastarria neighbourhood, close to the city centre and the Bellavista neighbourhood. You’ll be surrounded by bars, restaurants, artisan markets and boutique stores, and located just steps away from the MAVI museum and the GAM Theatre and Museum.

Spend your evening strolling the leafy streets and soaking up the cultural, historical and culinary delights of the neighbourhood. You can also enjoy the hotel’s rooftop outdoor swimming pool, terrace and restaurant, or the gym and spa on the ground floor.

Day 2 - Exploring Santiago

Enjoy a buffet breakfast before meeting your private English-speaking guide at your hotel, to begin your city tour around Santiago. Your guide will help you get your bearings in this lively city, and the tour includes lunch. You’ll hit all the highlights, starting with Santa Lucia Hill, where the city of Santiago was founded in 1541.

You’ll then head to Plaza de Armas, where you’ll see an array of historical buildings, including the Cathedral of Santiago, the Municipality, the Post Office Building and the National History Museum. Next, you’ll make your way up Cerro San Cristobal, the second-highest point in the city, where you’ll enjoy stunning views over Santiago.

You’ll continue your panoramic tour through the Providencia neighbourhood, then travel along the Costanera Highway to reach the elegant Vitacura neighbourhood and Alonso de Córdova Avenue. You’ll stop in at the Piedras Australes handicraft shop, which specialises in lapis lazuli jewellery, a semi-precious stone found only in Chile and Afghanistan. Enjoy a traditional Pisco Sour drink while learning about the beautiful lapis lazuli pieces, before ending your tour at your hotel in Santiago.

Days 3 - 6: San Pedro de Atacama

Day 3 - Transfer to San Pedro de Atacama

After your buffet breakfast, you’ll be met by your private driver and transferred to Santiago Airport, for your domestic flight to Calama Airport. On arrival at the airport, you’ll be met by your driver and transferred to Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa, your accommodation for the next four nights. The drive will take around 1 hour and 30 minutes, and you can take in the passing scenery as you make your way to the famed Atacama region.

Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa is a luxurious, ecologically harmonious lodge, set in the beautiful Catarpe Valley of the Salt Mountain Range. Built in the traditional Adobe style, Alto Atacama blends seamlessly with its environment, while paying homage to the local culture.

Day 4 - Exploring San Pedro de Atacama

You’ll stay at Alto Atacama Desert Lodge & Spa on a full-board basis, with meals, drinks and daily excursions included.

Alto Atacama is the only lodge in the San Pedro de Atacama region that is completely enveloped by natural surroundings, and with a strong focus on environmental and cultural sustainability, you’ll be well placed to explore the region with responsible, expert guides.

Day 5 - Exploring San Pedro de Atacama

Spend the day exploring this fascinating region and venture out on an excursion with your expert local guides. The excursions are split into different conceptualised categories, including cultural, contemplative, gastronomical, adventure and expedition excursions.

For a cultural experience, you can tour the striking landscapes to discover ancient archaeological sites or visit surrounding villages to learn about traditional farming techniques. For a contemplative experience in nature, you can visit the salt flats, geysers, lagoons, wetlands, salt lakes, deserts and the Valley of the Moon, and also take special trips to observe the sunrise or sunset in magnificent locations.

Day 6 - Exploring San Pedro de Atacama

Alto Atacama also offers full-day or multi-day expeditions, perfect for thrill seekers looking for a unique challenge. You can trek through the Desert Valleys, follow the ancient Route of the Shepherds, or tackle high-altitude volcano climbing on the Llaretas Route, Toco Volcano or Soquette Volcano. You can even venture on a two-day expedition to the summit of Licancabur Volcano, for extraordinary views of the region.

The lodge keeps you well-fueled for your adventures, with a buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner included each day. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included, and you’ll be spoilt with a superb selection of Chilean wines.

Days 7 - 8: Casablanca

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your domestic flight to Casablanca, an incredible wine region in the Valparaíso Province. On arrival at the airport, you’ll be met by your private driver and transferred to La Casona of Matetic Vineyard, your accommodation for the next two nights.

La Casona is an exclusive boutique hotel with just ten rooms, set in traditional 1900s colonial buildings in the gorgeous Chilean countryside. This afternoon, relax in the charming rooms, with stunning views of the gardens and vineyards, or explore the private five-hectare park featuring an outdoor swimming pool.

Enjoy your complimentary welcome cocktail and dinner, served with half a bottle of wine per person, either red or white, from the Corralillo line. The Corralillo wines come from the superb Matetic Vineyard, pioneered by the fourth generation of the Matetic family in 1999. Day 8 - Exploring Casablanca

You’ll stay at La Casona on a full-board basis, including meals, wine tastings and outdoor excursions. Enjoy a buffet breakfast this morning, before taking a tour through the Matetic Winery, which includes the tasting of four wines from the Ultra line of Premium EQ wines.

You’ll then enjoy a delicious wine-paired lunch before venturing out on a guided tour of the Rosario Valley, where you can choose to walk, cycle, go horseback riding or take a private vehicle. Days 9 - 11: Torres del Paine National Park

Day 10 - Exploring Torres del Paine National Park

You’ll stay at Tierra Patagonia on a full-board basis with meals, drinks, spa and excursions included in your stay. After you arrive, the team will create a bespoke excursion plan for you, customised to your personal interests and physical activity level.

This morning, enjoy a buffet breakfast before venturing out on your tailored excursion. You can choose from an array of activities, including hiking through the spectacular Patagonia landscapes, wilderness bike rides, horseback adventures, kayaking and sailing expeditions, fly-fishing and birdwatching.

Day 11 - Exploring Torres del Paine National Park

Days 12 - 14: Santiago

Day 12 - Transfer to Santiago

After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your domestic flight to Santiago. On arrival at the airport, you’ll be met by your private driver and transferred to Cumbres Lastarria, for another two-night stay.

Spend the afternoon continuing your exploration of the chic Lastarria neighbourhood. The streets are brimming with creativity, from bands and buskers to painters and street markets selling artisan products. Roam through the second-hand bookstores, or enjoy a cocktail on a balcony overlooking the lively streets.

Choose from over four hundred Chilean wines at Bocanáriz wine bar, one of the best in the city, or visit the terraced gardens and remains of a Spanish fort at Cerro Santa Lucia, with spectacular views of the city.

Wander the galleries and museums, then head to Emporio La Rosa, where they serve some of the best ice cream in the city. Pick from a range of unique flavours before heading to Parquet Forestal to soak up the sunset.

Day 13 - Day tour of Viña del Mar and Valparaíso

After a buffet breakfast, you’ll be met at your hotel by your private English-speaking guide to begin your full-day excursion to Viña del Mar and Valparaíso.

You’ll venture towards the Pacific coast, crossing the striking valleys of Casablanca and Curacaví. The first stop is Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage city, where you’ll find multi-coloured houses strewn through the hills, lush parklands and historical monuments. You’ll visit Plaza Sotomayor, a historical square located on the shores of one of Chile’s major ports.

Next, you’ll visit Viña del Mar, known as ‘The Garden City’, due to the array of parks and gardens found throughout the city. Continuing along the coastal road, you’ll see the famous flower clock and enjoy lunch in the city.

After lunch, you’ll head to Casablanca Valley to visit a vineyard, learn about their winemaking process, and taste their famous wine. You’ll return to your hotel in Santiago in the evening.

Day 14 - Departure from Santiago

Enjoy a final breakfast, before getting picked up by your private driver and transferred to Santiago International Airport for your return flight home.

After two luxurious weeks spent exploring Chile’s vibrant cities, spectacular natural wonders and lavish lodges, you’ll be leaving with a string of stories and special memories to look back on.
