Roughly seven kilometres from the Northern border of the Samburu National Reserve, this unique region borders other notable areas of outstanding beauty, including Ngutuk Ongiron to the west and the Namunyak Community Conservation Trust to the north.

Kalama acts as a crucial migratory landscape in Kenya, where herds of wildlife roam between different conservation areas.

With plenty of families and single villas, Saruni Samburu's family-friendly and relaxed atmosphere is perfect for many different types of travellers.

Guest spaces melt effortlessly into the rocky landscape, blending modern, luxurious style with warm, traditional Kenyan features.

There is a wide range of activities allowing you to explore the beautiful, untamed environment, including safari experiences where you can explore the landscape by vehicle or foot.

Some of the activities on offer include day and night game drives, cultural village visits, helicopter excursions, visits to local caves, and warrior courses, just to name a few.

Treat yourself to massages and treatments at the well-being space, home to expert therapists and stunning views of grazing animals. Make use of the two luxurious infinity pools, and ask your Samburu warrior guides about Kalama and beyond.

The lodge is the perfect place for photographers, with an extensive state-of-the-art hide by a watering hole providing the perfect opportunity to photograph elephants and other animals up close.

How a stay at this lodge makes your trip more responsible

Saruni Samburu works alongside the Northern Rangelands Trust to improve the welfare of the local Samburu people who own the Kalama Conservation Area, providing them with income generated by tourism for the first time in their history. This additionally encourages conservation efforts, while the lodge itself has a strong commitment to eco-friendly operations.
