Raised above the peaceful lagoons and everchanging channels of the Okavango Delta, North Island Okavango is surrounded by pure wilderness and astonishing beauty.
Located in the northern region of the Okavango Delta, the camp is situated within a game-rich concession, which is home to elephants, buffalos and big cats. This makes it an ideal place for adventuring out on safari, either by land, water or even by air.
Having just three tents within the camp, this little African-inspired sanctuary combines comfort with luxury. Each spacious tent has an ensuite bathroom with an indoor and outdoor shower, plus a bathtub. They also come with their own separate plunge pool and sunken sundeck for during the hot summer days and a cosy fireplace for those cold winter evenings. There is a separate lounge and dining area surrounded by ebony, mangosteen and wild fig trees, where you can enjoy your deliciously prepared dinners whilst overlooking the breathtaking lagoon.
North Island Okavango is a small haven escape for those looking for wild adventure, as well as natural serenity. It is a fantastic place for couples, adults or honeymoons, as it offers some of the best scenery and safari experiences within the Delta.
North Island Okavango consists of three tents set on raised wooden platforms overlooking stunning views of the lagoon. Each has its own private plunge pool. Perfect for couples looking to relax after a day of safari viewing in the Delta.
Facilities include a private plunge pool at each suite, as well as an outdoor gym and a relaxing library filled with books about Botswana. There is also a complimentary laundry service and the option of in-room spa treatments for those looking to really unwind.
Meals are served in a separate dining area overlooking the hippo-filled lagoon. Enjoy delicious dinners surrounded by nature and wild ebony trees, or sit around the campfire under the huge Botswana sky.
At Wayfairer, we always aim to work with accommodations that share our values. North Island Okavango is committed to making a positive impact on the people and wildlife of the area. The accommodation is part of the Natural Selection group, which has set up a range of conservation initiatives, including “Wild Vision”, which aims to bring efficient on-site eye testing and eyeglass distribution to remote schools to reduce delayed development that early onset vision impairment can cause. Their “Communal Herding for Livestock and Wildlife Protection” programme has helped to safeguard cattle, create employment, reduce the retaliatory killing of lions and restore overgrazed landscapes.
North Island Okovango is also 100% solar-powered and uses environmentally friendly air-conditioning to help reduce any negative impact on the environment.
