Luxury Iguazú Falls Holidays

Plan My Trip

Thundering falls and lush tropical rain forest

In Argentina’s Northeastern tip, bordering Brazil, you’ll find an incredible 80-metre-high waterfall that measures 2,800 metres across its cascading drop-offs.

Listed as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1984, Iguazú Falls is truly an astonishing site to behold. Aptly named “great water”, the clouds of spray soak the tropical rainforest below and create a heavenly humid micro-climate where a plethora of flora and fauna thrive.

Walk the upper and lower circuits, coming face to face with the thundering falls, and ride the green train through the tropical jungle to The Devil's Throat, on the lookout for languid crocodiles and turtles cruising the waters below. Prefer to be on the water? Take a speed boat trip along the river below to get right underneath the immense walls of water, or take a helicopter flight and see it all unfold from the air.

It's not all water here, though; the lush tropical jungle sustained by the falls is home to howler monkeys, tapirs, ocelots, caymans and even jaguars. A thrilling 4x4 jungle safari can take you there.

Your Luxury Iguazú Falls Trip Ideas

It's an easy 90-minute flight to Iguazú Falls from Buenos Aires, and so, for many, this is a great first stop on a tour of Argentina. This region combines well with explorations in the Northwest, too; after a few nights at the falls, you can fly to Salto to experience its dramatic scenery and scenic winelands before continuing South to Patagonia and Las Pampas.

When to go to Iguazú Falls

If you’re eager to experience the full force of the falls, plan your visit between December and March when rainfall is highest in this region. Though keep in mind some of the lower walking trails may be flooded at this time. This is also the busiest time of year, so expect more crowds.

March to July and September/October are drier months, meaning the falls aren’t at full volume, but the weather is cooler, and this is a great time to visit to enjoy hiking trails and fewer crowds.
