Bumi Hills Safari Lodge is a brilliant accommodation option, slightly removed from your typical safari lodge it offers a more hotel style with fantastic views and relaxation as well as some optional safari.

Bumi Hills Safari Lodge boasts one of Africa’s finest wilderness locations with an elevated position on a range of remote hills overlooking the vastness of Lake Kariba. Bumi is situated near the North Eastern border of the Matusadona National Park and is easily accessible by light aircraft and boat, allowing you to be swiftly transported into paradise without the stress of a long journey.

Situated on the sparkling shores of Lake Kariba, the beautiful Matusadona National Park was proclaimed a non-hunting area in 1958 and as such is wonderfully rich in wildlife and vegetation.

With a ready supply of regenerative grasses as a source of food and an abundance of water from the lake, buffalo, waterbuck, zebra, and impala have thrived. With this so have the predators, so you can expect incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. The lake itself is teeming with huge Nile crocodiles and the lake shored offers fantastic herds of elephants and the Big Five. Meanwhile, birdlife thrives here, so keep an eye out for the population of fish-eagles, amongst many others.

Spend your days cruising on the water or meandering the surrounds on a walking safari; discover the ancient secrets within the fossilised dinosaur footprints unique to this area. Activities include guided walking safaris, stargazing, boating, birding, catch-and-release fishing, day and night game drives searching for lions in particular, as well as engaging cultural visits to our nearby local community.

The Lodge

The safari lodge has a total of 10 rooms, all with views over Lake Kariba. All rooms have balconies and uninhibited views over Lake Kariba. There are garden rooms available too, reserved for guides and tour leaders, with slated terraces, set a little way back. Taking centre stage is the beautiful infinity pool that seems to blend endlessly into the lake horizon. The pool is surrounded by intimate wine and dining terraces on different levels. The lodge interiors have been beautifully finished in a fusion of contemporary western and African styles.

The Baobab Villa, Bumi Hills’ 2-bedroomed private villa, complete with its own living room bar and indoor and outdoor dining decks is ideal for families. Offering a personalised experience, the villa comes with the services of a private butler, safari guide and a dedicated safari vehicle.

The stresses of modern life melt away at the blissful spa where the sparkling infinity pool offers cool respite and endless views of shimmering Lake Kariba below. For the active guest, the well-equipped gym is an invigorating prospect.

Facilities

A little more like a hotel you’ll enjoy the plush luxury of this accommodation and air conditioning in every room! The safari activities such as game drives and walking can be enjoyed on the private concession. However, water activities such as fishing, and boat cruises are fantastic here.

Expect delicious food whilst here, with fresh local ingredients used to keep it light and full of flavour. There is inside and outside dining options and the staff are great regarding dietary requirements and ensuring enjoyable meal times.
