Time + Tide Luwi is one of those special and unique safari properties that offer an honest, no frills, yet comfortable safari experience in a remote part of South Luangwa National Park. You won’t find another camp for miles around it!
There is a lagoon in very close proximity to the camp filled with hippo and crocodiles. The camp’s focus rests on walking safaris where you will often find yourself viewing herds of lions or elephants on foot with an experienced guide. Whilst you can view wildlife on foot, you can also often see other animals strolling past when lying in the camp hammock or setting out on either day or night game drives or both.
The camp itself is incredibly peaceful and relaxing offering five thatched huts with polished mud floors. Each hut is unique in design combining rustic luxury with a true African bush feeling. Each hut comes with a flushing toilet, hot water and ensuite open-air bathrooms.
This stunning seasonal camp works perfectly in conjunction with Time + Tides three other seasonal camps in South Luangwa National Park, all offering walking and driving routes between each camp. These include Kakuli, Nsolo and Mchenja camps.
For something ‘bucket list’ the camp also offers a “Return to the Wild” sleep-out experience, for an extra cost. The camp is popular with couples, honeymooners, and families as well as avid bird watchers who enjoy spotting an abundance of wonderful wide life from the camp’s very own hide. Luwi is a simple camp but will immerse you into a true African safari experience.

The camp
There are 5 cosy rooms that overlook a floodplain that attracts elephants and hippos. Each grass and thatch hut is rebuilt each year in order to provide every guest a truly remarkable African experience. Each hut has a feather-top bed, open air en-suite bathroom and a peaceful outdoor seating area for watching the wildlife that pass by.
This camp offers a simple rustic charm but with all the home comforts you would expect from a safari camp to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Children can share with adults in a family room or in their own rooms and the rates will be adjusted accordingly.
Rates include all meals, standard bar drinks, accommodation, transfers to / from local airport, local inter-camp road transfers, game-viewing activities, laundry and service charge. Rates exclude top shelf spirits, reserve wines and champagne, flights and spa treatments. Often daytime meals are served under the shady trees whilst dinner is served under the stars with wildlife echoing in the distance and accompanied by the many sounds of the Zambian nights.
Facilities
Many activities at Luwi are included in your stay. The camp offer walking safari’s, viewings at the lagoon, game drives, cultural visits, canoeing and boat trips as well as an onsite hide for animal and bird spotting. Fishing can also be arranged.
Dining
There is a complimentary buffet breakfast daily. The main area consists of a small thatch cover bar and lounge area. You can typically expect that the chef at Luwi will combine food with an authentic Zambian taste so that you have delicious meals at Time + Tide Luwi.
