Built on Robin’s private land, this castle-like safari house offers a unique and private safari experience where local artisans have been used with great effect to style each room and living space. A common reaction to guests when first arriving at the house is a resounding “Wow!”.
Each living space and bedroom has been carefully designed to evoke an emotion and feeling of authentic African luxury and serenity. The staff are all carefully selected and trained to meet all guests’ individual needs and ensuring unforgettable memories and experiences are had by all.
There are four large double ensuite bedrooms that attach to a large airy living area that spans two floors. Each room is uniquely decorated using both locally sources timbers and stone as well as glass, marble and chrome in some rooms. The main area boasts comfy chairs as well as a large family size marble dining table for indoor meals while other meals can be had outside on the deck under the stars.
In front of the house is a tiled terrace area offering a large plunge pool for those hot days. There is a raised timber walkway that leads from the terrace to a viewing deck overlooking the lagoon. This is a perfect area to relax with a beverage on comfortable lounge chairs, enjoying the sights and sounds of the local African wildlife.
Activities for children depend on the children’s ages, but they include game drives, nature walks where they can learn about animal spoor and droppings, star gazing and even a children’s pack with crosswords and dot to dots to make learning about the bush fun. Back at the house, your private host(ess) will be at hand to ensure that they are well looked after. They can have fun in the plunge pool, bake cookies with the chefs for your afternoon tea, make lions or elephants heads from papier mache, play games or simply relax.
There is a private pool located on a tiled terrace at the front of the property. The raised walkway leading from this terrace to a viewing deck, nestled between two large ebony trees, offers a bar and dining area for those candlelit dinners and mid-afternoon snacks.
A key selling point to choose Luangwa Safari House is that all activities are exclusive, i.e. private vehicles for just you, timings and meals tailored to your schedule. This is especially valuable if you are travelling with kids. Luangwa Safari House offers day and night drives, walking safaris, seasonal boating, village tours, Mfuwe cultural walks and a tour of the local textile industry.
The chef and house manager will ensure that everything is as you want it for when you are back in the house.
For families, the team will also speak to you about meals and meal times to ensure that the kitchen prepares the types of food that the children enjoy and will even provide a packed dinner for them to have at sundowners in the park if they need to eat earlier.
For a family or friend group that are looking for an exclusive luxury experience with your own private staff and guides, this property is very hard to beat! Situated on a lagoon enables you to have the sights and sounds of Africa right on your doorstep but with the feeling of a “home away from home”. The property offers an amazing opportunity to experience luxury and true privacy while also having the chance to visit and support the local people and be a part or responsible tourism. It is possible to arrange to visit one of the projects that Project Luangwa supports while on your safari at Luangwa Safari House. These projects include schools, tree planting and the new local library.
