Found nestled under an ancient ebony tree, Luangwa River Camp is an exclusive safari camp offering effortless luxury and a real sense of being in the heart of the wild. The camp has been built along the banks of the great Luangwa River with easy access to wildlife in the park, either by game vehicle or boat (seasonal).
An intimate camp offering just five large, thatched suites that offer huge beds, stylish yet comfortably furnishings and large stone baths overlooking the river. These bush suites have been designed to maximise the experience for both first time and seasoned safari travellers. The suites can be left opened or closed during the day and night to suit you.
Wildlife viewings are many and varied at and around this camp as Robin Pope Safaris have chosen this enviable position overlooking the famous Luangwa Wafwa area. Known for the large variety of wildlife including birds, elephants, giraffes and predators, there is never a dull moment. Lions, in particular, can often be seen from camp.
Activities include game drives (both day and night), walking safaris, seasonal boating, village tours, visit to the Wildlife Education Centre and experiencing the local tribal textile trade and markets for authentic local arts and crafts.
Getting to the camp is a wonderful experience in itself and part of your African safari journey. After a short flight from either Lusaka in Zambia or Lilongwe in Malawi to Mfuwe, you will then take a scenic 1-hour road transfer from Mfuwe airport to camp. You will experience some colourful African village scenes as well as some wildlife on your drive.
Luangwa River Camp welcomes children over the age of 7 and some activities such as boating and the Wildlife Education Centre are firm favourites for children and young adults.
