Families (children aged 6 & over), couples, adults, honeymooners
This lodge has been meticulously designed and built to offer a high degree of luxury while maintaining the authentic safari feel for each of its guests. This camp is intimate in size with only 8 private chalets and 2 luxury suites with a host of staff look after each aspect of the safari experience.
The location of the lodge ensures the game viewing from the camp itself rivals that of the game drives and walking safaris experienced further afield within the remote bushland.
The lodge offers some creature comforts to elevate the overall game viewing and relaxation experience. The wildlife photographic hide overlooks the floodplain and waterhole where a vast number of species congregate throughout the day.
Tucked away at the foot of a giant fig tree, the intimate spa offers a variety of massages and treatments designed to spoil guests and ensure guests are able to truly unwind and shake off the stresses of our modern city lives.
Activities on offer at the lodge include day and night drives, walking safaris, use of the photographic hide and cultural experiences such as visiting the local community.
At Kafunta River Lodge, each of the luxury 8 private chalets, the main lounge and the dining decks overlook the game-rich floodplain. The chalets stand on raised wooden platforms and have thatched roofs and private viewing decks. There are also 2 spacious luxury suites with extra-large en-suite bathrooms. Each suite features a cosy mezzanine with additional day beds and an open balcony. All rooms have comfortable sitting areas and all offer amazing views.
Central to the chalets is the spacious bar and dining area. Built around a semi-evergreen wild mango tree and thatched in the traditional style, this Zambia safari lodge offers panoramic views over the Luangwa River and the South Luangwa National Park. Great game viewing and bird watching from the lodge is guaranteed.
Kafunta River Lodge, being part of the Luangwa Valley and its community, supports and integrates the local community by offering employment and sourcing local products and services to encourage growth of small local businesses. They directly support conservation organisations and as they are built in a very remote part of the park, their presence helps to control the poaching situation.
