Time + Tide Chongwe Lodge, Lower Zambezi National Park is made up of 9 classic safari tents, as well as a stunning 1 and 2 bedroom suite. Each tent boasts its own open air spacious bathrooms.
The tents natural design fits in well with the backdrop of the camp, reflecting its diverse location. Each room has its own outdoor sitting area, right alongside the edge of the hippo-filled river. Enjoy sitting and reading your book in the afternoons whilst watching the almighty river life go by.
With a swimming pool not far from the main area, you can enjoy cooling off in the midday heat in the summer months or enjoy relaxing by the pool whilst watching the playful vervet monkeys fight for the last remaining pods from the winter thorn tree.
The Cassia (1 bedroom) and Albida (2 bedroom) Suites are located near to the main lodge; however, they offer the option of pure privacy. Both suites have their own plunge pools sat right on the riverbanks as well as offering private dining experiences in the comfort of your rooms. Along with private dining, you will also be provided with your own private vehicle and guide, allowing true flexibility with your choice of activities.
The camp can be reached by a leisurely boat journey along the river which is a great way to arrive at camp for the first time, alternatively, it is only a fifteen minute drive from the local airstrip.
For the ultimate Zambian safari experience, carry on your journey with Time + Tide to some of their other properties in other locations in Zambia, these would include going to the iconic South Luangwa National Park. Chinzombo Lodge is a great option for the more luxurious, otherwise, travel into the depths of the bush and stay in one of Time +Tides seasonal camps, like Nsolo, Kakuli or Mchenja.
Chongwe Lodge also offers Time + Tides signature sleepout experience for those who want to become entirely immersed in the wilderness. Enjoy sleeping out under the stars in the wilderness. The camp
Time + Tide Chongwe lodge boasts 9 tents dotted along the side of the river, as well as two stunning private suites. The classic tents have character, with the interior reflecting the local textiles and locally handcrafted furniture. Each tent has its own private bathroom with hot water showers. At the entrance of each tent sits a small outdoor sitting area allowing guests to enjoy the panoramic views of the river.
The Cassia Suite is a one-bedroom honeymoon suite that features a shaded outdoor bathroom, with a beautiful stand alone bath and shower. This stunning secluded suite also has its own plunge pool at the front and allows for a private in room dining experience.
The Albia Suite is the camps two-bedroom suite, perfect for families. Much like the other it features outdoor bathrooms, each with a shower and stand alone bath. A private plunge pool sits at its front, close to the waters edge, private in room dining is also an option.
Facilities
The camp has 9 safari tents, as well a one and two bedroom private suite, with their own private plunge pools. A larger pool is also on offer for those staying in the classic tents. A huge range of activities are on offer, including driving and walking safaris, boat trips down the river. One can also join one of the guides for catch and release tiger fishing. Cultural trips within the local villages are also an option for those who wish to learn the local customs.
Dining
Breakfast is served around the campfire and the other meal are usually served around a single table in a traditional safari camp style, although private dinners can be accommodated for, as per request. Special diets such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher etc can be accommodated with prior arrangement.
