"Kiota" means "nest" in Swahilli and this beautiful tented camp certainly has a bird’s eye view of one Tanzania and Africa’s most famous areas. Kiota is situated in the central Serengeti’s Seronera River Valley and although there are lots of other lodges and camps in this area Kiota Camp manages to maintain a wild, adventurous feel.
The central Serengeti is a wonderful year-round wildlife viewing destination as it is ideally placed to explore the wooded hills further north and the short grass plains to the south. It is particularly good for big cats and wildlife densities swell twice a year when The Great Migration passes through this region. The exact movement and timing of the migration is notoriously hard to predict but traditionally the great herds would move through during April/May heading north and back in November as they return south.
The beauty of the camp is matched by the experience and quality of the staff, who will do everything they can to make your stay one to remember. Stories around the campfire take place in the evening and the staff can organise a bush breakfast or dinner and even a romantic private dinner under the glittering Serengeti sky.
Kiota Camp combines perfectly with it’s sister property Chaka Camp, which is a mobile camp moving twice a year between the north and south to follow the migration.
