Built on the banks of the Marico River in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, Jaci’s Lodges offers a family-friendly safari experience couples with excellent guest service. With 75,000ha of African wilderness, Madikwe Game Reserve is home to an enormous variety of animals including brown hyena and African wild dogs, and over 300 species of birds. Get up close and personal with these residents on game drives in a 4x4 vehicle or explore some of the smaller things on a guided bush walk.
Owned by Jaci and Jan Van Heteren who built the first lodge on Madikwe in the 90’s, Jaci’s Lodges are built to be family orientated. The Safari Lodge has two exclusive family suites in addition to the 8 luxurious rooms, and the welcoming atmosphere is very evident. Jac’s Tree Lodge has authentic tree-house style rooms with magnificent views into the surrounding riverine forest.
There is also the option to visit the Starbed and sleep under the African skies, and the Terrapin hide offers an extraordinary photographic experience for both amateurs and professionals alike.

The lodge
Jaci’s Safari Lodge and Jac’s Tree Lodge both have main area looking onto the Marico River with a cosy lounge, indoor and outdoor dining area, deck and boma area with a fire.
The eight thatched roofed and canvas sided rooms at Safari Lodge have en-suite bathrooms with a bath tub and outdoor shower. The Safari Suite can accommodate up to eight, perfect for two families and the Nare Suite can accommodate six, each with their own plunge pool and private guide.
Jaci’s Tree Lodge has eight wooden treehouse-styled suites with sliding glass doors opening out onto a private balcony. Built with African rosewood, they each have an en-suite bathroom with a bath and outdoor shower.
The Starbed Suites offer a romantic evening under the starts and are perfect for special occasions.
Facilities
Facilities include WiFi, swimming pool, gym and photographic hide.
Dining
Traditional South African meals are served at the main lodge or fireside in the boma.
