Adults, honeymoons and families
As the only private lodge within Kosi Bay Nature Reserve, Kosi Forest Lodge offers an exclusive glimpse into the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Isimangiliso Wetland Park. Home to a diverse array of wetland life including hippos, crocodiles and many unusual bird species, visitors can explore the swamps and forests prevalent to the area.
Kosi Forest Lodge provides simple and comfortable tented accommodation in thatched suites which blend seamlessly into the surrounding nature.
Activities are plentiful with so many unique habitats to explore. Discover the jungle of the Raffia Palm forest where you might be lucky enough to catch sight of the rare palm-nut vulture. Catch a boat trip around the lakes and channels and even go snorkelling in the mouth of the Kosi river, surrounded by shoals of tropical fish. Between mid-November to mid-January, you can follow the extraordinary journey of giant leatherback and loggerhead turtles as they make their journey back to their birthplace to lay their eggs.
Back at your private suite, relax under the forest canopy in your very own al-fresco bath tub and reflect on this little piece of paradise.
Kosi Forest Lodge offers a truly nature-focussed experience in the unique and diverse ecosystem of iSimangaliso Wetland Park.
With only 8 suites in total, there is a lovely intimate atmosphere which complements the isolated set up. Each room is positioned on a raised wooden deck and has a small private balcony where you can listen to the vibrant forest. The tented sides and traditional thatch roof gives a true African feeling and in addition to an en-suite shower room, each chalet has it’s own open air bathroom with an outdoor bath and shower set in the soft sand. There are two family-friendly rooms, consisting of two interconnecting en-suite bedrooms which share an outside bathroom, perfect for small groups or families.
The main lodge is built underneath a Zulu podberry tree and offers a comfotable dining area and lounge. Overlooking Lake Shengeza, the swimming pool is the perfect place to cool off after an action-packed morning exploring.
Facilities include WiFi in the main area, swimming pool, lounge and epic outdoor bathrooms.
Meals are served at the main lodge or fireside in the boma.
Powered by solar and the limited use of a generator, Kosi Forest Lodge impacts minimally on it’s unique surroundings within iSimangaliso Wetland Park. In addition, the lodge focuses on community upliftment, supporting neighbouring communities through employment and the benefits of eco-tourism.
