Adults, couples and honeymooners
Located in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, nThambo Tree Camp is a rustic, eco-friendly camp offering a nature-orientated experience with cosy ‘tree-house’ style tented accommodation. The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve covers 60,000 Ha, which forms part of the Greater Kruger and shares unfenced borders with the Kruger National Park. Here, game viewing is in abundance with regular sightings of leopard, lion, hyena, elephant and buffalo.
The camp offers game drives twice a day in an open 4x4 vehicle, as well as the option of walking safaris with a highly qualified guide and experienced Shangaan tracker.
The accommodation is designed to be of minimal impact to nature, consisting of five canvas-walled chalets with thatched roofs on raised platforms. Although simple, each chalet has an en-suite shower room and a private veranda with magical views of the surrounding bushveld and Drakensberg mountain range.
Under a thatch roof, the communal outdoor dining area and lounge offers the same superb views. Other facilities include a lovely open-air boma with a fire, a bar and a splash pool where elephants often visit to drink.
nThambo Tree Camp is an affordable, rustic option for the adventurous traveller looking for an authentic bush experience.
nThambo Tree Camp offers an authentic and intimate safari experience with only five canvas-walled, thatched ‘tree-house’ style chalets. Each chalet is raised on a wooden platform with stilts and a staircase for access. The veranda offers spectacular views at eye-level with the tree. All chalets are en-suite with a shower and a toilet, and lighting is provided by solar power.
There is an outdoor dining and lounge area covered by a thatch roof, which showcases stunning views over the bushveld and onto a small waterhole, with the Drakensberg mountain range in the distance. A small pool surrounded by sun loungers completed the main area and is a lovely place to relax in between game drives.
A highlight of nThambo Tree Camp is the cosy boma area, where guests can enjoy a traditional braai during their stay. Spend your evenings around the fire sharing your experiences of your time in the bush and listening to the endless tales of the guides.
Facilities include WiFi in the main area, splash pool with deck, bar and lounge.
Dining can be taken in the traditional boma around the fire. Bush breakfast can be organised upon request.
Powered by solar, nThambo Tree Camp aims to have minimal impact on the surrounding area with an extremely low carbon footprint. The guides, who been trained extensively, show superb knowledge and ethics whilst providing a top-quality safari experience. Most of the staff, including the exceptional trackers, are from the neighbouring communities and as a result, the camp supports many families and households.
