Luxury Sao Tome & Principe Journey

Welcome to Sao Tome’s coconut lined roads. You’ll land in Sao Tome in the early evening and warmly greeted by our local representative who will make the 15-minute drive to Omali Lodge, your home for the first night. You’ll stay in a Honeymoon Suite with breakfast and dinner included, and plenty of places to head out for lunch on day trips or visits to town.

Take a walk along the road lined with palm trees, onto the beach where you can sample fresh coconuts, or make the most of the swimming pool, floodlit tennis courts, gym, restaurant and bar within Omali Lodge. With no change in time zone from the UK, it works very well for avoiding jetlag and remaining energised even on a short romantic trip or honeymoon.

After breakfast at Omali Lodge, you’ll be transferred to the Sao Tome airport for your flight to Principe Island. It’s a 35-minute flight and if you have the option, try to sit on the right-hand side of the plane to get the best views flying in.

On arrival in Principe, you’ll be warmly welcomed by local staff who will drive you to Bom Bom Island Resort where you’ll stay for three nights in a Beachfront Room on a full board basis, with breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Today you will be transferred by road to the luxurious highlight of your trip, Praia Sundy lodge. You’ll stay at Praia Sundy for five nights in a one-bedroom tented villa on a full board basis. This lodge is particularly special, as it’s one of the National Geographic’s Most Unique Lodges of the World.

We’ve included three workshops for you to learn more about the local culture and artistic traditions. You’ll meet a group of artists called the Mambos da Terra, and have some fun making artwork of your own with their guidance, as a special memento to bring home from Principe.

You’ll also spend a day learning to cook like a top chef and lastly spend let your imagination with a day of making jewellery from recycled glass. You’ll learn of the whole process, make your own piece of island treasure, and visit the old hospital of Porto Real and the wonderful Roca, a restored plantation house.

If you’re having an active day, an optional activity we can include is the Ribeira Izé trail tour. Ribeira Izé is the original capital of Principe, where you can see old church ruins and the house of Maria Correia, a famous historical figure. The trail excursion lasts around four hours and covers a distance of 2.25 kilometres.

Today you will say goodbye to the team at Sundy Praia and transfer to Principe airport for the flight back to Sao Tome. After arriving on the main island, you’ll meet your representative driver for your transfer back to Omali Lodge. You’ll stay at Omali Lodge for one night in a Honeymoon Suite with dinner and breakfast included, and opt to head out for dinner or stay at the lodge for a relaxing night in.

After breakfast at Omali Lodge, you’ll have time to go shopping for some souvenirs and relax in a day use room, before transferring to the airport for your evening flight home. After 11 luxurious days spent exploring the riches of Sao Tome & Principe, we’re sure you’ll be leaving with a trove of memories and stories to share back home.
