From sunrise to sunset, guests are rewarded with breathtaking views and offers only 8 luxurious banda cottages, and two larger deluxe bandas ideal for families or honeymooners.

If you can secure one of the uniquely decorated rooms then you are in for a treat as not only are the stunning views brought into the rooms and terraces, but each banda has been decorated with local fabrics and artwork.

As expected the style and splendour continues throughout Virunga Lodge. Guests have their own butler to cater to assist them with every aspect of their stay, from cleaning muddy boots to booking complimentary massages.

Activities, such as walks to the nearby lakes and Dian Fossey’s grave can also be arranged from Virunga, as well as the main reason for visiting this remote area; treks through the national park to meet mountain gorillas.

If you can pull your eyes away from the view, the Dian Fossey Map Room is educational and interesting, with sketches, old maps and books about the famous residents of Parc National des Volcans (Volcanoes National Park).
