Stay in the treetops 20 meters above the forest floor

Cost Per Night
Perfect For

Families & Couples

Wake up in the morning to monkeys and birds at eye-level from your private treehouse in the Amazon canopy. This lodge, accessible from Iquitos in Peru’s north Amazon river basin, provides a truly special once-in-a-lifetime experience of camping out in the treetops surrounded by the wildlife of the most spectacular biosphere on the planet.

Despite being suspended meters above the forest floor, Treehouse Lodge has all the luxuries of a lodge back down on the ground. Each treehouse bungalow is private and intimately personal, and of course open to the elements. There is no distance between you and the forest here, so brace yourselves for a true adventure.

Perhaps the perfect beginning to a day at Treehouse Lodge is setting out on a boat at sunrise to reach the Amazon River through its tributaries. Enjoy breakfast on the boat while observing the pink and grey river dolphins, keeping eyes peeled for other encounters of sloths, monkeys, iguanas and a colourful array of birds.

Travel by dugout canoes, a popular mode of transport amongst indiginous communities of the Amazon river, and fish for piranhas providing a fresh side dish to your evening meal. Learn about the medicinal benefits of plants in the amazon, and uncover the sacred relationship the people here sustain between the individual and the earth.

All jungle cruises, treks and explorations are included in a stay at Treehouse Lodge, giving you the freedom to choose what you desire to see and experience when you arrive. Nighttime walks and nature tracking is an exhilarating way to uncover the wildlife of the forest, and rest assured you’ll be joined by guides who know this area incredibly well.

Treehouse Lodge is set in a pristine 345 acre jungle reserve, uniquely characterised by elevated walkways winding above the waters and jungle floors. Follow glowing tiki lanterns towards the bar and common area for an evening relax and journey back up high to rest in the comfort of vast beds high in the treetops.

The Property

The main lodge is an impressive, beautiful wooden structure that connects to all 12 treehouses via a wooden walkway. Treehouse Lodge was designed to give guests the best views of the rainforest and its native animal life. In each treehouse there is a lower public platform and an upper private platform, where you stay. The thatched roofs and warm wood design makes for an aesthetically pleasing environment, and looking out from the lodge itself visitors are greeted by 5 different species of monkeys on site, pink and grey dolphins, sloths, parrots and parakeets. Each treehouse is unique, every dwelling sits at a different height in the canopies and they are all individually sized. The benefits of each lodge change depending on whether it is high or low water season as the lodges lower to the ground may overlook a lagoon or the forest floor depending on the water levels. The team at Wayfairer will ensure that you have the perfect spot, tailored to your visit.

Features

Although Treehouse Lodge is literally within the trees of the forest, it has all the amenities of a luxury lodge. It is worth noting, that as the lodge is at one with the elements it can get pretty humid and damp, but that’s the nature of staying within the rainforest. The lodge has a 24-hour front desk, a multi-story beautiful bar and lounge area, a snack bar, laundry service, games room, ample outdoor seating spots and warm water in the baths and showers. This is a place to switch off, thus WiFi is restricted to the common rooms.

Dining

Guests are provided with three quality meals a day, served in the main lodge protected from insects and the elements. The resident chef has curated a menu of tasty, and colourful meals made from Peruvian ingredients, cooked using traditional methods. Meals are available to order according to dietary requirements and the kitchen is fully equipped despite being located right in the jungle’s trees. There is a circular bar in the middle of the lower floor of the common area where an extensive list of beverages are available, including Pisco Sours and local beers.
